LANDON DONOVAN “I always wash my face and apply a face lotion with SPF, like Neutrogena Men Age Fighter Face Moisturizer Lotion SPF 15,” he says. “I have to admit that when I was younger, I didn’t take sun protection very seriously. My father is a skin cancer survivor, so now I always make sure that I use at least an SPF 15 on my face and body every day. I think it’s important to stay well-groomed overall so you can put your best face forward. Whether you like a clean-shaven face or are more of a beard man, make sure you take care of yourself. Personally, I like the clean-shaven look, so I like to use face scrub to get a closer shave. But I have also been known to embrace a bit of stubble. Regardless, I use sunscreen every day, rain or shine.” When asked what his one non-negotiable item would be if he ever found himself stranded on a desert island, his sun-protection answer was unsurprising. “Definitely sunscreen! I wouldn’t last 15 minutes without it,” he insists. “My favorite is Neutrogena CoolDry Sport Sunscreen.” He adds that if he had a few more items to bring, they would easily be “chips and guacamole, and my iPhone.” He is emphatic about using products designed for men — performance is everything to this world champ. “Stop using whatever products are lying around in the shower,” he says, “or even worse, your girl’s products! It’s like if I were to take to the field without having the right equipment designed to enhance my performance. Ever since I started working with Neutrogena, I’ve come to really take pride in taking care of my skin. The Neutrogena Men products are made especially for what a guy needs, so it’s a no-brainer.” Aside from using Neutrogena sun protection, Donovan tells us he’s a huge fan of scrubs and cleansers: “I just recently started using Neutrogena Men Invigorating Face Wash because it has this minty thing going on that really wakes you up.” While his career and day-to-day activities have changed over the past couple of years, his grooming routine is one of the important constants in his life. “If it works, I tend to stick with it,” he declares. “Now that I am retired I get to change up my daily routine.
