<strong>Beauty</strong> <strong>Within</strong>: What do you like most about your new fragrance, Beyond? David Beckham: I’ve had a fantastic partnership with Coty for the last 10 years, and what I like is that together we are always looking to develop and innovate further. Beyond is another step in that evolution, and I’m excited for people to try it. BW: How does Beyond reflect your mentality? How do you go about making sure you accomplish your dreams? DB: Having a dream is something anyone can relate to. Whether you’re young or old, we all have dreams. I’m no different, and I have always carried a lot of passion into what I do, but that means you have to work hard, too. If you love what you do and work hard at it, then special things can happen. BW: What does the tagline “It all starts with a dream” evoke within you? DB: It reminds me of when I was a little boy who just loved playing football and had all these dreams of playing for Manchester United and England. That’s where it all started for me, and it’s nice to think of all the little boys and girls out there today who are dreaming big. BW: What advice would you give your fans about achieving their dreams? DB: It’s all about loving what you do and working really hard at it. There will be tough times, but if you have the right attitude and keep working hard, amazing things can happen. BW: Did you always dream of becoming a football player? DB: Always! My dad and granddad made me fall in love with football, and growing up I had heroes like Brian Robson and Bobby Charlton, who was my dad’s favorite player. I wanted to be like them, playing for Manchester United and England. Luckily, I reached my goals. BW: What about fragrances? Did you ever dream that you would have your own scent? DB: No, but I jumped at the opportunity because I’ve always been interested in them. I knew with the expertise at Coty we would have a great partnership, and I’m really proud of the work we’ve done together over the last 10 years. BW: Do you have any dreams you have yet to achieve? DB: Of course. There’s a lot I want to achieve now, from building my business to my work with UNICEF through my 7 Fund, especially. And, of course, as a father I now want to help make my children’s dreams come true. BW: What has been your biggest accomplishment so far in your life? DB: Captaining my country was probably the greatest achievement in my playing career. But really, my family is the biggest accomplishment I have. I’m so proud of Victoria and my children; they’re my greatest achievement. BW: The bottle has very geometric, nearly architectural designs on it. What was your inspiration behind this? DB: With every fragrance, we want to create a design that will stand the test of time and look as distinctive and strong in 10 or 15 years as it does today. I think we’ve achieved this with Beyond. BW: What was the advertising campaign like? What was it like shooting with David Sims? DB: It was great to work with David. I have a huge amount of faith in him, as he always creates such beautiful work — but he’s also a lot of fun to work with.
