THE ERROL
“The Errol, a thin strip mustache
inspired by cinema royalty Errol
Flynn, is big right now, and the
right gel can keep it neat and cared
for,” says André Richard Baldini,
owner and creative director of André
Richard Salon in Philadelphia. “The
mustache is trimmed to a thin, even
strip and is very manageable at
home. The Errol will give you an
artistic flair and a feeling of romantic
mystery.” So how do you keep your
Errol mustache neat and cared for?
Try L’Oréal Paris Studio Txt It
01 Deconstructing Gum, which
works well for style and shape.
Baldini recommends also using Free
& Clear Shampoo to remove any
buildup and keep facial hair clean
and free of bacteria.
THE NEWBIE ’STACHE
“First off, there is no magic elixir to
accelerate facial-hair growth,” explains
Kristan Serafino, celebrity hair stylist and
men’s groomer. “It grows at the pace it
grows and no faster. It’s also a myth that
shaving more often makes the hair grow
back thicker, darker or faster.” To get the
newbie ’stache (this would be you with a
fairly new, just-building mustache):
1. Begin with a few days of overall growth.
This will give you a broader area to work
with when you begin to style and trim.
2. When you’re ready to shape the
mustache, use a clear shaving gel or
apply a little Every Man Jack Electric
Pre-Shave Oil around the lip area so
you can see what your edging.
3. As the mustache fills in, be certain to
trim any wild hairs that are not playing
nice with the rest of your mustache.
