Welcome to you all here at uLearn17,
in Kirikiriroa (Hamilton). Annually,
CORE Education/Tātai Aho Rau and
you, get together to participate in the
most amazing national showcase for
professional development. This event
is a part of the continuum of your
professional learning and development.
In uLearn there exists the opportunity
for you and your colleagues to connect
in one place and celebrate the very
best of education, learning, teaching
and collaborating. There is something
for all in the extensive programme.
No matter how many times you look
at the programme, you will be sure to
see another very exciting and useful
direction to go. Times are constantly
changing and, as professionals,
we are obliged to look critically at
the disruption, assess it and seek
to understand what it offers us in
supporting learner agency.
In keeping with our mission at CORE to,
“push the boundaries of educational
possibility,” technology delivered via the
internet will ensure that you are very well
networked. ShowGizmo allows you also
to stay completely connected to all that
is happening. Additionally, as we have
done now since 2014, we bring you CORE
Education’s ‘Connected Educator NZ’
(CENZ) to add a new dimension to your
experience. There will be a community
of professional practice to link to and
remain connected with beyond uLearn
itself. Connected Educator pulls together
online professional learning from across
NZ and beyond, to support digitally
networked learning. Many events at
uLearn are also part of the Connected
Educator calendar so follow activities
online (#CENZ17 @ConnectEduNZ)
and visit the Connected Ed team in the
exhibition hall.

in support of the conference to ensure
its success.
Finally, “good on you,” our participants,
for taking the time out to come along
and for being the essential ingredient
that will make uLearn17 the memorable
and lasting learning experience it will be.
