Missing Numbers 1. The following 1–100 number grid has been partially completed. Insert the following numbers onto the grid, leaving all the other cells blank. 7, 98, 42, 13, 56, 25, 34, 70, 81, 79 2. Make your own missing number puzzles. • Begin with a blank grid. • Choose the numbers 1–100 or 0–99. • Now enter ten clues. There should be one clue (number) in each column and row of the grid. • Now choose ten numbers to be placed onto the grid and write them beside the grid. • Give your grid to a friend to complete. • Repeat with the second grid and give to a different friend to complete. Once you have played for a while, swap and play one of the other games. Roll and Place 1. The player who rolls the highest number goes first. 2. The first player rolls both dice and uses the digits shown to produce a number. 3. If, for example, a ‘two’ and a ‘five’ are thrown, then either 25 or 52 can be chosen. The player covers one of these numbers on the grid. 4. The other player has a turn. 5. The aim of the game is to be the first player to cover three numbers in a row either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Pick and Place 1. Lay out one pack face down. The player who chooses the card with the highest number goes first. 2. The two packs are shuffled separately and are placed face down in two separate piles. The first player turns over the top card from each pack and uses the digits shown to produce a number. 3. If, for example, a ‘seven’ and a ‘nine’ are picked, then 79 or 97 can be chosen. The player covers one of these numbers on the grid. 4. The other player has a turn. 5. The aim of the game is to be the first player to cover three numbers in a row either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Spin and Place 1. Each player spins a spinner. The player who spins the highest number goes first. 2. The first player spins both spinners and uses the digits shown to produce a number. 3. If, for example, a ‘three’ and a ‘zero’ are thrown, then either 30 or 3 can be chosen. The player covers one of these numbers on the grid. 4. The other player has a turn. 5.
