This is a game for two to four players. You Will Need • the same grid for each player • a set of arrow cards • marker for each player (coloured counter, cube or tile etc.) • pencil or highlighter Grid Race How to Play Grid Race 1. Place the arrow cards face down in a pile. 2. Each player begins with a marker in the top left corner of the grid. 3. In turn, each player draws a card from the pile and moves his/her marker. (If a player can not go, simply pick up another card.) 4. After ten turns the player whose marker is on the highest number is the winner. Each player should record the route travelled on his/her grid. Variations Here is a list of different ways to play the game. • Use a six-sided dice marked with +11, –1, +9, +10, +11, –10. (Other markings can also be used.) • Use a spinner instead of a dice. • Use a blank grid and write the numbers on the grid as you move along the route. • Start at the top right of the grid and only use arrow cards that subtract. • Begin in the middle of the grid. • Use a different grid, for example, a Down and Up grid. Think of a Number You can play this game in a small group (three to five players is best). You Will Need • the same grid for each player (1–100, 0–99 or other) • pencil or highlighter How to Play 1. One player thinks of a number on the grid and marks it on his/her copy. 2. The other players take it in turns to ask questions to find the number. For example, 3. Each player shades in the grid according to the answer given. This helps to keep track of what the answer can not be and which questions are better to ask than others. 4. When the answer is found, another player chooses a number and the game begins again. (Use new grids!) 5. You should be able to find any number on the grid by asking no more than seven questions!
