How to use this book
Number Grids is divided into three sections.
Teachers Notes
Section 1 contains information about
how students can make their own
number grids using a computer.
It also contains a variety of completed
number grids and blank grids to
photocopy for students to use with the
games and activities in Section 3.
These can be photocopied on card and
laminated. Students can use a
water-soluble marker to try out the
activities before completing the
associated worksheet in Section 3.
Section 2 contains detailed
background information about each
game and activity in Section 3. The
purpose of each game and activity is
explained, along with teaching points
and ideas to assist students’
understanding. Answers are also
provided where necessary.
Section 3 contains a collection of games and activities. Some need to be photocopied for each student.
Others can be photocopied once and then laminated or placed in a plastic sleeve for students to refer to.
Other equipment needed by the
students such as dice, cards,
cubes etc. is listed on the
appropriate pages.
The games and activities are
arranged in order of difficulty.
The majority of games and
activities use the 1-100
number grid as an example.
However, in most cases, any
grid configuration can be
substituted.
