Sometimes I wonder what I will put
in this segment, and most of it will
be from my own experiences. I have
went on before about what’s wrong
with the world now that I’m older.
I think the problem is, that we have
given up as consumers, even with
getting our information. What I mean
is, we do not question anything, we
accept it. I think you only see it when
you are older because you have seen
the world when it was different.
When it was “the good old days.”

I have reported in this paper before
on how products are made to
fail, how food has been modified,
etc. but no one really questions this
stuff or we just don’t care. A news
story last week was talking about
how amounts of weed killer were
found in breakfast cereal. How did
it get there? Was it in the seed of
the grain that was grown? I had reported
on this before and you have
to realize, that if weed killer or
growth hormone is genetically
modified in the seed, that the end
grain will end up in the breakfast
cereal, or the cattle/chicken feed,
then the milk, beef, eggs, chicken
meat, corn chip snacks, and whatever
other products that come from

that seed. But that is only my opinion.
It seems to me that the early 90’s is
when things changed. Farmers were
forclosed on and many farms disappeared.
So where did the food start
coming from? I saw a report where
the state fair’s dairy farmers were
worried, because the price of milk
had gotten so low. I remember local
dairy farms and the families that ran
them in the 90’s but don’t know of
one now. Where is the milk coming
from? Corporate Farms? How are we
getting enough food for the larger
population when you don’t see farming
like in the 90’s?
Another report from last week said
there were unsafe amounts of heavy
metals in baby food. How did that
get there?

As Israel, America has hewed out cisterns that hold
no water. They have sought satisfaction through
fleshly efforts. They worship the creature more than
the Creator. They have a zeal, but not according to

Learning the difference between
faith and rebellion
Just because we read about how to live a
victorious Christian life does not mean we will
automatically convert into an overcomer. We
must absorb His Word through our brain and
into our spirit all the while learning how to
surrender our will and discipline our flesh. The
true Christian life is not easy, in fact the more
serious we become the more difficult it will
be. Listen, if we are born again, our spirit is
connected with God’s Spirit and we have a
wonderful opportunity to channel His energy
into our being. If we can prevent our mind
from talking us out of it, we can be saved from
ourselves but it’s going to take our total
commitment and dedication. Being filled with
His Spirit means that He has been given us
the opportunity to transform the way we think
and this will literally change who we are.
Persistence and stubbornness are not the same
thing. Being stubborn “for God” is faith but
being stubborn toward God is being rebellious
and He’s not impressed with this type of
determination. He appreciates and blesses us
for being persistent but when He tells us no
and we keep pushing forward, we have fallen
into dis-obedience. There have been times in
my life when I did not know whether to quit
or keep going. When doors have been
slammed in my face, I kept knocking and
continuing even to the point of trying to force
them open with a bull-dozer. However, there
can be problems with this type of mentality.
Maybe God never intended for them to open
and all of our demolition just makes a huge
mess including the misery and discouragement
from resentment and confusion. This is why
it’s crucial to KNOW if the devil is working
against us - or if the Lord is saying no.

For thirty-five years a man
had faithfully served as a
“Keeper of the Lighthouse.”
In addition to the bright light
swirling through the darkness,
a warning gun was fired
automatically every five
minutes. He had heard its
“shot” so often for so long
that it did not disturb him.
One night while he was
asleep, the
gun did not fire as it normally
did. He awakened with a
shout and said to his wife,
“What happened?”
Our psalmist prayed for
many years. God had always
answered his prayers. One
day, however, his prayer was
answered with silence. So, he
cried out, “O God, do not

Sometimes God is silent
because He is testing us. One
night a storm arose and high
water started to flood their
little boat. Jesus was sound
asleep. In fear, the disciples
awakened Him shouting,
“Doesn’t it bother You that we
are about to perish?” Calmly
He rebuked the wind and the
waves and things settled
down. They had faith in His
power but it was a limited faith.
After they tested Him and saw
what He could do, their faith
became firm and their trust in
Him complete. He was silent
up to a certain point because
He wanted to strengthen their
belief in Him.
Sometimes God is still
because He has something to
teach us. When He is, it is a
signal from Him that we are to
search our lives to see what
has separated us from Him.
Isaiah said, “Your sins have
hid His face from you, so that
He will not hear you.” But
with our confession comes His
cleansing and the restoration
of our communication.

~Peanut Butter Cup S’moreo Bars~
For the oreo base:
• 24 oreos, crushed
• 2 tbsp butter, melted
• 2 tbsp milk (any kind)
For the toppings:
• 1/2 cup peanut butter, warmed
• 1/2 cup milk / semisweet chocolate chips
or chopped chocolate
• 24 large marshmallows halved, (or 2 cups
mini marshmallows)
• 6 peanut butter cups, chopped
~Instructions~
1. Preheat your oven to 350º F. Line a 8" square pan with foil or baking paper. Spray with oil (or use a
pastry brush to brush the oil on). Set aside.
2. To make the base: Combine the crushed oreos with the melted butter and milk.
3. Scatter the mixture evenly into the lined pan and press down. Bake for 6 minutes.
4. Once baked, immediately spread the warmed peanut butter over the oreo base. Evenly scatter the
chocolate chips over the peanut butter. Completely cover with the halved marshmallows (or mini
marshmallows), placing them cut side down.
5. Place under a broiler for under 1 minute to toast the marshmallows (watch them closely!) - mine took
around 30 seconds.
6. Immediately scatter the chopped peanut butter cups over the marshmallow layer.
7. Cut into 12 or 16 bars (ummm...I’d go with 16, these are like a sugar bomb) Serve warm.
