PROFESSIONS THAT
REQUIRE SAFETY
WORKWEAR
BY BASHARAT K - EZINEARTICLES.COM
If you work as a welder, engineer, or any other profession that require proper safety,
wearing occupational and safety garments is likely to be the part of your everyday
working life. Occupational safety is something employees cannot compromise.
There is a number of professions where protective equipment is of paramount significance.
For example, welding is an occupation that demands appropriate protective
equipment. Welders cannot go to work in a casual dress. They need goggles, coveralls,
gloves, and other equipment to protect the body parts against burns and sparks.
8 CONSTRUCTIONMONTHLY.COM

There are many jobs where hazards are not so obvious,
but it is important to have protective measures
in place. Following are some of the jobs where it is
almost inevitable to wear appropriate safety clothing
and use protective equipment:
WELDING
Welding is a profession full of hazards that can lead
to a number of injuries. Eye injuries, for example,
can occur from the sparks, intense light and radiation
that a welding arc can produce. Hot slag and
other metal debris that can fly off from the weld
can also cause skin and eye injuries. The use of
safety equipment is the only way to stay protected
against these hazards.
CONSTRUCTION
People associated with the construction profession
understand how important it is to observe strict adherence
to safety rules in order to avoid fatal injuries.
Heavy moving objects and machines can cause
irreparable health issues. The helmet is a common
protective equipment construction workers use
to protect the head from falling objects. Activities
such as grinding, nailing, and handling concrete expose
workers to a number of safety concerns.
PLUMBING
Plumbing is also a key profession that demands
proper occupational clothing. A plumber has to
work in various hazardous environments. It is not
safe to deal with complicated obstructions and hidden
pipe leaks without protective garments. Coveralls
and safety helmets are common protective
equipment.
AUTO REPAIR
Mechanics cannot wear casual dress during work.
They have to wear coveralls, bib pants, and other
equipment to stay protected from dirt, heat, and
other dangerous substances. It can be a challenging
task to search through hundreds of unrelated
workwear and safety products to find something
that suits your industry.
When it comes to occupational clothing, employees
need a combination of comfort and safety. The
freedom to move or the ability to work without
physical restriction is essential. Workwear should
be designed to provide safety as well as comfort no
matter the nature of a profession.
Wildrose is one of the trusted workwear manufacturers
in Canada where we design and manufacture
state-of-the-art occupational safety garments
including a wide range of coveralls, bib pants, and
shop coats. In our custom workwear feature, we
offer logo embroidery, multiple colors and alterations,
and tailor-made designs according to your
exact specifications, You can visit our online shop
and place an order right now.
THE BEST
WAYS TO USE
EQUIPMENT
BY ARTICLECITY BLOG
FINANCING FOR
YOUR STARTUP
STARTUPS NEED THE RIGHT RESOURC-
ES TO THRIVE FROM DAY ONE. THAT
MEANS HAVING THE LATEST EQUIP-
MENT ON HAND FOR YOUR INDUSTRY.
But what if you lack enough capital to finance
the equipment you need to succeed
from the start?
Luckily, startup
founders like you
can take full advantage
of equipment
financing to start
your company off
strong, regardless
of the industry.
AS A NEW BUSINESS OWNER, YOU
CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF LOW
EQUIPMENT FINANCE RATES AND
PAY OFF YOUR LOANS OVER A
5-YEAR SPAN AS YOU WORK TO
GENERATE THOSE EARLY SALES.
WHAT’S YOUR INDUSTRY?
10 CONSTRUCTIONMONTHLY.COM
According to the latest data from the Equipment Leasing and
Finance Association, professional lenders financed equipment for
the following industries:

• The transportation industry received the most equipment financing,
almost totaling 30% of all equipment financing business.
• IT and computer related businesses represented 21.3% of all
equipment financing.
• Construction came in at 11.5%
• Agricultural businesses received a little over 9% of all financing.
• The medical industry came in at 4.7%
• The industrial and manufacturing sector received 3.7%
• Energy-related companies represented 2.5% of the equipment
financing share.
Now, for our next question to consider. What is the best way to use your
equipment finance loan?
LISTS MATTER
We suggest creating a long laundry list of equipment you
need to get your startup off the ground. It’s also important
to get your finances in order to make sure you don’t fall
into “negative equity” during those first few years of your
business as you pay off your loans.
SPECIAL SEATTLE SHOW EDITION 2018 11

HOW TO USE YOUR
EQUIPMENT FINANCING
Also included in that same ELFA report were figures for
office machines (4.2%) and material handling (2.8%).
Whether your startup is focused on tech or agriculture,
office machines are vital to your startup.
For example, you can use your equipment finance loan to
purchase the following necessities for your business:
• Printers
• Scanners
• Copy machines
• Communication devices like fax machines and phones
• Desktop computers and laptops
• Paper shredding machines
• Servers
• Internet routers and modems
• Lamination machines
However, it’s important to note that computers eventually
become obsolete over time. Therefore, you may find yourself
already needing an upgrade as soon as you’ve paid off
your equipment loan.
That’s why we recommend considering financing office
equipment with longer life cycles.
On the other hand, material handling equipment doesn’t
have short lifecycles like Macbook pros or Dell laptops.
Material handling equipment is used across all industries,
especially in the transportation, construction, agricultural,
and manufacturing sectors.
• Shipping palette trucks
• General industrial trucks
• Automated pickers
• Side loaders
• Cranes
More material handling equipment includes storage-related
products like stacking equipment, shelving, drive-in storage
racks, and frames.
Material handling equipment is also vital to restaurants and
other culinary-related startups.
If you’re launching a new food startup, you may want to
consider using your equipment financing loan to purchase
commercial refrigerators, freezers, commercial toasters,
and ovens for example.
EQUIPMENT FINANCING:
NEXT STEPS
What’s great about being a new startup is that you can receive
your equipment financing fast to get the ball rolling. In
fact, you could even get approved by the end of one business
day.
We suggest creating a long laundry list of equipment you
need to get your startup off the ground. It’s also important
to get your finances in order to make sure you don’t fall into
“negative equity” during those first few years of your business
as you pay off your loans.
As a new business owner, you can take advantage of low
equipment finance rates and pay off your loans over a 5-year
span as you work to generate those early sales.
THIS TYPE OF EQUIPMENT
TYPICALLY INCLUDES THE
FOLLOWING:
• Conveyor belts
• Silos for agriculture
• Automated Guided Vehicles
Which BIM Software to Use?
ArchiCAD VS Revit
AUTHOR MARIA WILLIAMS
writer for ezinearticles.com
BOTH OF THESE BIM SOFTWARE TOOLS ARE DYNAMIC AND POWERFUL.
DEDICATED USERS OF EACH WILL NATURALLY THINK THEIR PREFERENCE
IS BETTER. THEY DO MOST OF THE THINGS AND BOTH HAVE DIFFERENT
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES. WHICH ONE DO YOU USE? WHICH IS
BETTER? ARCHICAD OR REVIT?
Building Information Modelling -
BIM is one of the most popular
topics in construction. We can
define it as a process helping us
to manage complexity and improve
performance in construction
projects. Simplified, BIM is a process for
creating and managing all of the information
on any project - before, during and after construction.
Revit by Autodesk and ArchiCAD by Graphisoft
are the two biggest players in the market.
This comparison between ArchiCAD and Revit
will help architects, owners and contractors to
make а more briefed decision.
ArchiCAD is the first BIM software for architects,
created in 1984. Offering a suite of
tools for building design and engineering, this
software enables seeing the project through
engineering and visual design of building`s interiors
and exteriors. On the other hand, Revit
is 4D BIM-capable tool which helps us to plan
all aspects of a building project, from design
to construction and beyond. Realized in 2002,
this software can be used by architects, builders,
engineers, project managers and more.
User Interface
ArchiCAD`s user interface is maybe the first
thing that users are praising it for. It`s clean
and sleek and that`s maybe the reason why ArchiCAD
has an easier learning curve, especially
for designers. While the user interface can be
customized in a number of ways, it has slightly
less flexibility than its opponent. Revit features
a user interface that is highly customizable,
supporting multiple approaches for using the
software. It is a little bit complicated, because
of its medium learning curve. However, Revit
offers greater level of flexibility to designers
and architects.
Conceptual Design
Concept design in ArchiCAD is a fairly user-friendly,
enabling push/pull modelling, instant
and customizable geometry and smart
multiple extruding. Similar, Revit features a
conceptual design which provides flexibility in
the earliest stages of a project. This allows you
to create geometry that later can be integrated
into your BIM project.
Visualisation
Revit features a wide range of views from
which to approach your design, such as wireframe
and transparent surface. Each view can
be manipulated and controlled in a particular
project and can be assigned to the overall
view or specified to a category or element. ArchiCAD
has similar visual styles as Revit, but
don`t have the capacity for applying views to
specific elements.
Ana: “Revit is very valuable
software. It is made for
architecture, and will provide
with every single tool you need
to design a good building. It
is very precise and it provides
very clean and accurate
drawings. But as an architect,
I prefer ArchiCAD or 3D
AutoCAD because I think it
offers more freedom to express
as a designer.”
$THE COST
Revit 2018 costs $2.200
per year. ArchiCAD 21 is
slightly cheaper; however,
it requires a number of
add-ons you need to add
manually to achieve the
same functionality as Revit.
Borjana: “I prefer ArchiCAD rather than Revit. As an architect, I can express my ideas better
working in ArchiCAD and I can easily manage all of the parameters. Also offers many tools that
are useful to present and develop the design, so the graphic presentation of the models, projects
and the documentation are at an excellent level.”
Both, ArchiCAD and Revit have intensely large suite of tools for rendering.
Rendering
Both, ArchiCAD and Revit have intensely large suite of tools for rendering. They can produce photorealist images of the interior and exterior of
your project. The Ray Trace is a photorealist rendering mode that allows panning and zooming with your Revit model. When using this visual style,
the rendering starts at a lower resolution but quickly increases its fidelity. Thus, you can set lightening, photographic exposure and background.
ArchiCAD features CineRender, similar tool to Ray Trace which allows you to change the light, shadow, texture, brightness and more.
Interoperability
Revit and ArchiCAD can both import and export IFC files. Furthermore, they are capable of importing
and exporting all common file types, including 3D models, 2D drawings and other CAD file types.
Pricing
Revit 2018 costs $2.200 per year. ArchiCAD 21 is slightly cheaper; however, it requires a number
of add-ons you need to add manually to achieve the same functionality as Revit.
What our colleagues said:
Borjana: “I prefer ArchiCAD rather than Revit. As an architect, I can express my ideas better working in ArchiCAD and I can easily manage all of the
parameters. Also offers many tools that are useful to present and develop the design, so the graphic presentation of the models, projects and the
very precise and it provides very clean and accurate drawings. But as an architect, I prefer ArchiCAD or 3D AutoCAD because I think it offers more
freedom to express as a designer.”
Both of these BIM software tools are dynamic and powerful. Dedicated users of each will naturally think their preference is better. They do most of
the things and both have different strengths and weaknesses. Which one do you use? Which is better? ArchiCAD or Revit?
PROJECT PLANNING & SCHEDULING FOR CONSTRUCTION OWNERS DURING THE PLANNING &
PRESENTED BY SALEH MUBARAK
Target Audience: General Contractors, Builders, Sub-Contractors, Developers, Home Builders,
SEATTLE workshops
Construction owners include a wide range of individuals, corporations, and governments. Their knowledge in
construction project management also differs vastly. Owners hire contractors to build projects for them obviously
because the contractor possesses the knowledge and capability to do so. The question remains: what is the owner’s role in
monitoring the project, and how can he/she/they do it effectively? It is like taking your car to the mechanic for repair: it is
the mechanic’s duty to do the job and get the car in a good running shape, but the owner needs to be aware of the process
so he/she can make sure what is said to him/her is indeed the truth; both the diagnosis and the repair.
In construction projects, the owner and contractor are held to the agreement (contract) they signed, which defines
the deliverable and constraints as well as the rights and responsibilities of each party. However since construction is a
technical matter, the owner must have the minimum level of knowledge to allow him/her/them to follow and monitor the
construction process, be able to verify payment requests, be able to make proper decisions, protect himself from potential
claims, and –in general- not to be fooled.
How Technology Has
Changed
INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT SALES
by Dale Harris
www.articlecity.com
OUR WORLD TODAY WOULDN’T BE THE
SAME WITHOUT INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT.
EVERY INDUSTRY FACED A CHANGE WHEN
EVERYTHING WENT DIGITAL, AND THE IN-
DUSTRIAL MARKET IS ONE OF THEM.
Industrial equipment is facing several updates, from the way
customers shop to the rising technology in equipment.
Some digital sales trends mean more responsibility for the company.
Personal interaction can be difficult because more customers
prefer tech-based interaction.
However, there are many benefits. Industrial equipment systems
are more connected to the customers. These systems collect
more data on customers to understand consuming trends.
The LAER Model
Traditional sales haven’t drastically changed. Rather, machinery
is introducing customers to a new buying experience. What
was then ‘make, sell and ship’ is also ‘own, operate, and get an
outcome.’
The best example is taking the classic LAER model. Let’s see
how the LAER model operates under the digital era.
24 CONSTRUCTIONMONTHLY.COM
Land
This first step is the most important, even in the digital era: land
the sale.
Traditionally, performing the land step occurred face-to-face.
This ensured industrial equipment was properly built for the
right customer and for the specific reason of their industry.
Today, this step involves more analytics.
The customer needs to see the products are smart and connected
to prove reliability. When the customers trust in the equipment,
they’re more likely to share their data. This results in a
higher output of sales.
Adopt
You want to be sure your customers are happy with your equipment.
This goal hasn’t changed in the digital world.
Because of this, the emphasis has always been on the products.
This focus includes modernizing and improving products, as well
as training and educating the customer about the equipment.
This focus is still the same today. However, it’s implemented
differently. For example, services such as crane load testing are
available for customer safety and satisfaction. Digitalization
makes this training easy for the modern consumer.

Today, equipment isn’t replaced as a whole. Customers
want solutions rather than new products. So they
invest in spare or replacement parts, contract features,
and software upgrades.
This means a lot of focus falls on third-party products,
especially the tech-based ones. While this may not
drive revenue streams as strongly as before, you’re
establishing better relationships with your customers
and expands your business.
Renew
Customers receive this education, but in the cloud. Included product training
in the operating system connects to other devices and machines.
Education implementation is in the cloud. It’s accessible on a remote server.
Rather than focus on personalized service, manufacturers are focusing on
optimizing technology to be more accessible.
The struggle lies within the support, maintenance, and upgrades within the
cloud.
Expand
All marketing encourages the customer to spend more, and the same goes
for equipment. When this type of marketing as applied in a traditional sense,
it was to promote newer equipment customers could use as a replacement.
These leads were perfect when cross-selling and upselling to existing customers.
Your customer base keeps coming back and new products generate more revenue.
This helps bring customers back by renewing their
contract. Before, there was a specific renewal process
and specialized personnel who handled renewals. This
strategy ensured high renewal rates and predictable
revenue streams.
Today, renewal is either automated or tech-assisted.
Technically, linking the renewal phase with the adoption
phase helps save time.
The only time the renewal phase occurs is when the
contract expires. This way, your customer will decide to
agree to renewal based on your equipment’s success.
Increased Demand for
Innovation
Digital applications and analytics are opening new
doors for machinery. Therefore, demand is increasing
for more innovation and sophisticated technology.
SPECIAL SEATTLE SHOW EDITION 2018 25

How Technology Has Changed
INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT
SALES...CONTINUED
Customers want more than monitoring production. They want
to remotely control their equipment through mobile devices.
This requires technological advances and system updates.
The demand comes from saving time and money. Users have
even become used to machinery informing them of automatic
updates. This includes replacing parts.
Other benefits include an additional GPS system and 3-D
printer installation.
Customers Don’t Pay for
Hardware
Customers are paying for technology and services, and are no
longer paying for hardware. This simple change dramatically
altered the sales chain. Most manufacturers are finding more
benefits from being cross-functional, offering more digital
technology for their products.
Customers are able to access data through their machines. This
data is accessible in the cloud. This makes improved collaboration
with stakeholders.
Emphasis on Rapidity
Industrial machinery results in high-quality work, crafted
with precision. This quality results in reliability. Before, manufacturers
relied on talented engineers to craft machinery
with this quality. Today, manufacturers also add customer insights
to the manufacturing process.
Today, this process produces quality machinery but does so
rapidly. Speed-to-market has always been a customer need.
Technology is able to integrate machinery at market value but
with fast results.
Redefining Customer
Relationship
There is no longer the model of production, sales, service, and
design.
Today, technology is measuring customer satisfaction. Since
these updates are automatic, manufacturers understand
what customers want. This boils down to collecting customer
data: how they shop, purchase, use, and replace equipment.
When analyzing, manufacturers have a better idea of what
customers want and are able to deliver results.
With technology, customer feedback is easy. Customers are
eager to review product design and order progress. They can
immediately connect to service teams if they encounter an issue.
Targeted Prospecting
Technology makes it easier to connect with your customers,
but also with your prospects. This is a useful marketing method
while implementing social media.
26 CONSTRUCTIONMONTHLY.COM

Either directly or indirectly marketing your brand to prospects
helps increase the chances of new sales opportunities.
Industrial Equipment is
Undergoing Technological
Change
Technology makes it easier to handle equipment.
Innovations in technology help productivity and data can
be available on platforms such as the cloud. The sales and
renewal steps are easier to manage and you can conveniently
access customer data as they use your equipment.
Technology has created a different industrial customer,
but the process runs more efficiently.
Dr. Nacondus Gamble knows this all too well. After
her optometry practice, The South Eastern Eye
Center, began to establish a reputation for great
patient care, Dr. Gamble decided she was ready to
expand. So she began looking for business financing
to open another location in Georgia. That’s when
she discovered that many lenders don’t share her
commitment to high-quality service.
I called a couple of places,
but I just felt like they
“
were taking advantage of
me,” she said. “It was unnecessarily
harsh.”
Dr. Gamble ended up borrowing through Funding
Circle, an online platform focused exclusively on
small business loans. Known for its speed, transparency
and customer service, Funding Circle has helped
more than 40,000 businesses around the world get financing,
says co-founder and U.S. managing director
Sam Hodges.
Today there are more options than ever before for
businesses looking to grow. While some of these
newer options can offer a significant leg up, others
can actually end up doing more harm than good.
So how can you get the best deal on a business
loan? It helps to watch out for these three common
mistakes:
GROWING YOUR BUSINESS?
T
HESE
BRANDPOINT
FINANCING
MISTAKES CAN COST
YOU BIG
(BPT) - STARTING A BUSINESS CAN
BE TOUGH. GROWING ONE CAN
BE EVEN HARDER.
28 CONSTRUCTIONMONTHLY.COM

Not understanding the true cost
1of your loan
When shopping for a business loan, it’s easy to become overwhelmed
by fast-talking salespeople, endless strings of acronyms
and confusing terms. If it’s unclear how much you’ll really pay
for financing, that’s a good sign you should walk away, Hodges
cautions.
A good lender will always be willing to help you calculate the Annual
Percentage Rate (APR) and explain all the terms of your loan
clearly. They’ll also help you understand what fees you can expect
over the life of the loan - some lenders sneak in additional hidden
fees, concealing them in fine print or confusing legalese, which can
significantly inflate the cost.
Getting trapped in daily or weekly
repayment 2 cycles
Some types of business financing can seem like a godsend for a
company in need of fast cash. These providers promise easy approval
with quick access to funds. However, that speed can come
at a steep price - in many cases, the provider takes a portion of
your sales on a daily or weekly basis until the debt is repaid.
Term loans are often the better option, Hodges says. They allow
businesses to borrow a set amount of money for a specific purpose,
like hiring new staff or stocking up on inventory. The funds
are then paid back over a set amount of time, with consistent
monthly payments and no surprise fees.
Not knowing what you deserve
3
While many finance providers have your best interests at heart, the
truth is that not all do. Some use irresponsible or misleading practices
and take advantage of small business owners’ need for cash.
After seeing countless small businesses get stuck with credit
products they couldn’t afford or understand, a coalition of small
business advocates, lenders and online credit marketplaces came
together to launch the Small Business Borrowers’ Bill of Rights. As
the first-ever gold standard for responsible business lending, the
Bill of Rights outlines the rights and safeguards that small businesses
IDENTIFY
By B Todd - ezinearticles.com
BIM (Building Information Modeling)
helps to review a construction
plan, identifying constructability
issues during the pre-construction
stage. BIM implementation detects potential
obstacles and design flaws that might result
in cost overruns and rework. The evaluation
of the entire project process is made through
BIM before construction. The whole project
analysis can be made from concept design
through as built, identifying issues that may
be encountered due to design incompatibility,
space conflict, circulation, logistics and
more. Revisions and design update can also
be tracked during design development of a
project. Moreover, BIM helps to improve the
site process.
LET’S CHECK OUT HOW BIM CAN HELP
TO RESOLVE CONSTRUCTABILITY ISSUES
FOR VARIOUS TRADES
ELECTRICAL TRADE - Electrical drawings
of a large construction may not be equally
comprehended and interpreted by all project
stake holders. This leads to rework in construction
and wastage of time and resource.
3D BIM collaboration is an efficient way of
CONSTRUCTABILITY ISSUES
FOR VARIOUS TRADES WITH
BIM
bringing all project stakeholders on the same platform.
BIM Constructability Review helps in this regard by
acting as a visual tool for managers, field personnel &
other stake holders. Highest level BIM coordination
ensures fast and error free construction, reducing field
generated change orders and rework. Furthermore, installation
disruptions and work stoppages are eliminated. Constructability
issues identified by BIM in electrical trade include adequacy
of space for installation, operation and maintenance, optimum
use of fittings, use of bend radius as per codes, mounting heights
as per codes, clearance between services and locating electrical
items in proper place.
CONCRETE - BIM helps to find several inconsistencies in the
input drawings and incomplete information for concrete trade.
Several conflicts get identified which could have affected the
actual construction in terms of cost, material and manpower.
BIM minimizes wastages by revising designs like changing pouring
sequence, modifying mat slab thickness, terminating floor
opening and more.
HVAC TRADE- BIM coordination helps to identify clash
and raised it to consultants, which results in revision of design.
Coordination problems get resolved through drawing validation
such as flue duct clashing with structure and other trades, FPB
clash with wall and structure and more. The final HVAC model is
produced by removing clashes through re-routing and re-sizing
of duct as well as by changing elevation. This helps to pre-fabricate
assemblies in quality set-up, reducing installation time,
wastage and cost.
Seek constructability review through BIM and resolve clashes
before construction. Constructability review and clash detection
analysis are often performed with software like Autodesk
design review, Navisworks and more. Choose a proficient BIM
service provider to identify construction conflicts and fix them
efficiently. BIM visual analysis helps to achieve building safety
standards, enabling visualization of schedule with installation
of permanent building parts & temporary safety arrangements
before construction. Implement BIM to match your construction
workflow in the perfect way.
Pinnacle Infotech is a leader in BIM (Building Information
Modeling) with delivery centers in India, USA, UAE, UK, Italy
& Switzerland. Over 850 BIM professionals collaborate across
time zones offering quick turnarounds on construction projects.
MANAGEMENT
PLANNING AND SCHEDULING
By Basharat K
ezinearticles.com
CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT IS A BROAD TERM THAT
DEALS WITH VARIOUS KEY STEPS IN A CONSTRUCTION
PROJECT. SCHEDULING, FOR INSTANCE, IS A MANAGEMENT
TOOL THAT HELPS LEADERS MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS ABOUT
DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES ON A SITE. WE OFTEN USE TERMS PLANNING
AND SCHEDULING INTERCHANGEABLY. HOWEVER, THERE IS A CON-
SIDERABLE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE TWO COMPONENTS.
32 CONSTRUCTIONMONTHLY.COM

corporate strategic plans, etc. All these plans deal
with the following four major steps:
• DIVIDING THE WORK INTO VARIOUS
ACTIVITIES
• DEFINING THE SEQUENCE BY WHICH
ALL THE ACTIVITIES SHOULD BE
CARRIED OUT
• ACTIVITIES REPRESENTATION
• MAKING RATIONAL ESTIMATES OF
RESOURCES, TIME, COST, ETC.
Every project is different in nature. It is possible
that a single person can handle a simple project
which only involves few defined activities. However,
most of the construction projects are complicated;
managers have to define and organize
thousands of activities. The more complex a project,
the greater the number of activities. Sometimes it
becomes humanly impossible to handle thousands
of activities without software capabilities.
When a project manager has to deal with numerous
activities, it is recommended to develop a communication
platform where all the stakeholders can easily
access information and develop an understanding
throughout the various construction stages. Work
breakdown structure (WBS) is a common example
of how a large plan can be effectively organized.
Planning is a general term that refers to a roadmap, a clear path that should be
followed in order to complete a project successfully. In construction management,
planning is about breaking down a project into definable, identifiable,
and measurable activities. The next step is to establish the logical interdependencies
among these activities. The planning stage usually deals with the
following three questions:
• WHAT IS GOING TO BE DONE?
• HOW ARE THINGS GOING TO BE DONE?
• WHO WILL BE COMPLETING VARIOUS ACTIVITIES?
• WHAT WILL BE THE EXPECTED COST?
How do we carry out scheduling in a construction
project? There are many techniques and methods
to conduct scheduling. Some of them are task matrix,
network diagram, and line-of-balance scheduling.
Matrix scheduling is a simple way of handling
small projects. Other techniques are designed to
handle complex tasks and activities.
It is recommended to have a reputable third-party
project management service on board in order to
complete complex projects with great efficiency.
SPS specializes in and provides third-party progress
measurement, scheduling, cost management,
reporting, modeling and other project management
services to the construction industry in Canada.
Construction projects involve many technical factors that should be given due
attention. Only specialized project managers can carry out a project efficiently.
A construction task may involve a number of stakeholders with varying
priorities and interests. For instance, plans can exist at different levels: shortterm
construction plans, long-term construction plans, pre-tender plans,
WHAT ARE
TRANSFORMERS
AND HOW ARE THEY TESTED?
By Mukesh Tolani - ezinearticles.com
34 CONSTRUCTIONMONTHLY.COM

Understanding a transformer is not
a rocket science, as it is simply a static
device, whose main function is to supply
power from one source to another. Its
working is mainly based on Faraday’s
Law of electromagnetic induction. It has
coils, windings and cores perform its
working of power transmitting without
making any changes in the frequency. Its
primary coil is basically connected to the
alternating current supply, so, current
smoothly makes its way to pass through.
And its secondary coil is connected to
the alternative flux.
ing over the product to the clients, so, they’ll get
the safe and error-free product, which give them
value for money. If you want to know about main
tests in detail, so, take a look below.
Open-Circuit Test:
This type of test is mainly performed to determine
any iron losses and no loading problem of
the device. It is very much important to check, as
your carelessness can be the reason for a big loss
in the near future.
Short-Circuit Test:
Nowadays, there is a transformer
available to fulfill the sole motive of a
particular application by stepping up
or stepping down the voltage level in a
safer way, as per the requirement. The
device basically has no moving parts
and one can easily use it because of its
user-friendly construction. In today’s
modern world, you may find their
presence easily in almost all types of
electrical application in all the industries,
which increases its demand in the market.
Out of all available types, choosing
the right model, design, size is a task, but
if you have knowledge about how much
voltage your application required, so,
you can easily make a wise decision.
Though, before you buy the transformer;
they need to pass several tests
to ensure safe and smooth operation.
These tests are mainly performed by the
Transformer Manufacturers before hand-
It is basically used to determine the copper
losses, which is important to identify at the
very first stage to prevent any big problem from
arising in the future.
Both the tests are performed by applying
some simple techniques, though only professionals
can do this, as your one wrong connection
or test may take the deadly turn in the
future. To avoid such risk, always buy this static
device from a prominent company that offers
you the device after performing all the necessary
tests to ensure the safety of the product, plant,
and personnel working on it.
Trutech Products is the most trusted brand
in manufacturing control transformer in India.
Being the leading Transformer Manufacturers
in India we offer wide range of transformers in
different specifications.
