HEATHCOTE VALLEY School pupils
Nia McDonald and Jean Taylor have
returned from representing Canterbury
at the national Root to Tip cooking
competition in Wellington.
A big focus of the competition was to
incorporate seasonal produce and use as
much of it as possible in their meals.

THE AUPAKI Kahui Ako Cultural
Festival was held at the Sumner School
hall last week.
It gave performers within the Aupaki
cluster – which includes Heathcote
Valley, Redcliffs, Sumner, Lyttelton,
Mt Pleasant and Star of the Sea schools
as well as Linwood College – an
opportunity to come together to share
musical and cultural performances.
