48 Old Course Ranfurly Golf Club The Old Course Ranfurly Golf Club Finals Day 2018 was a superb showpiece of golf played on a dry but windy Saturday afternoon. Results as follows: Club Championship Winner- Stewart Watt 5&4, Ladies Club Championship Winner- Jen Owen 1up, Junior Club Championship Winner- Johnny Greig 8&7, McCulloch Cup- Paul McClelland 2&1, Jubilee Trophy- Colin Pearson & Brian Murray 2&1, Mixed Foursomes- Suzanne Smith & Danny Dyer 3&1, Senior Club Championship- Robert Ferris 2&1, Ladies Satterford- Mairi Milne 3&1 Huge Congratulations to Birgit Clark and Fiona McMillan who won in the 6th round of the Daily Mail Foursomes, 2&1 away to Douglas Park Golf Club on Tuesday 7th August. Next round yet to be decided (ATTOW). Also on Tuesday 7th August 34 junior golfers attended the Junior Open at Old Ranfurly. 15 boys competed for the main competition and 19 boys and girls played in both red and blue 5 hole events. Johnny Greig won the main prize with Ruaridh Mackie and Rory Stewart being successful in the red and blue competition. 5 novelty prizes were also shared amongst the field. The junior convenor and committee would like to thank all the parent volunteers, all members who made donations towards the prizes and all the sponsors who contributed. As part of Johnny’s prize, he won a hosted 3 ball at any of the Gleneagles courses, kindly donated by Securigroup. A great day was had by all and fantastic potential shown by young golfers in Renfrewshire. Congratulations to Jamie Stewart who had a fantastic week at the Scottish Amateur Championship at Blairgowrie earlier this month. Sadly Jamie came out second best in 36 hole matchplay final to veteran Euan McIntosh. After qualifying T3rd from the strokeplay, Jamie safely navigated his way through 5 rounds to make the final. Great effort Jamie, we pass on our best Jamie Stewart wishes to him back at University in the USA. Club Championship Winner - Stewart Watt Ladies Club Championship Winner - Jen Owen Junior Club Championship Winner - Johnny Greig The Advertizer Dance for Parkinson’s Classes in Greenock People with Parkinson’s, their friends, families and carers can now book their place on the award-winning Dance for Parkinson’s programme starting in Greenock next month at the Beacon Arts Centre. The programme is specially designed for people with little or no dance experience and who are affected by Parkinson’s. The class is being established after a hugely successful taster session was held earlier this year. The Greenock class runs each Tuesday from 4th September to 4th December. Sessions will be held from 1pm – 3.15pm and will be led by Scottish Ballet. Refreshments will be available after each session where there will be the chance to chat with other participants and the Dance for Parkinson’s team. Lorna Fraser, Parkinson’s Local Adviser for Inverclyde, said: “The Dance for Parkinson’s programme has shown to help develop participants’ balance, coordination, confidence and creativity.
