IT HASN’T been all plain sailing on the
Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community
Board (see page 1).
Given the different views on the future
of Denton Park that’s no surprise. But
reporter Anan Zaki reveals today divisions
within the board go back further.
The conflict between members led to the intervention of city
council chief executive Karleen Edwards and Mayor Lianne
Dalziel.
Tension still lingers given some of the snide exchanges at the
board’s meeting a fortnight ago.
There are some strong personalities on the community board
– which is good for democracy – and long may that continue.
But in spite of Mike Mora’s belief that what goes on behind
closed doors should stay behind closed doors, the public has a
right to know.
