SONIA DIAS
(1962) es especialista en
Residuos Sólidos en WIEGO
(Mujeres en Empleo Informal:
Globalizando y Organizando).
Ella es socióloga de profe -
sión y ha trabajado en el área
en Brasil desde 1985, enfo -
cada en promover la integración
de la inclusión social en la
planeación técnica de la reco -
lección de residuos y el reciclaje.
LUCIA FERNANDEZ
(1980) trabaja para WIEGO
como Coordinadora Global de
Colectores de Residuos y
es candidata al doctorado en
arquitectura de la Universidad
de Uruguay. Es Profesora
Asistente en el Instituto de
Teoría y Urbanismo de la
Facultad de Arquitectura, y
también en la Unidad de
Economía Social y Solidaria y
Cooperativas.
DAVID GOUVERNEUR
(1953) es arquitecto y plani -
ficador urbano. Es Profesor
Asociado de Paisajismo y
Planeación Regional en la Universidad
de Pennsylvania,
Estados Unidos. Su práctica
profesional se enfoca en
planes urbanos, nuevas centralidades
y distritos de usos
mezclados, mejoramiento de
asentamientos informales
existentes y planeación pros -
pectiva para la emergente
ocupación informal.
ALEJANDRO ECHEVERRI
(1973) es arquitecto y urbanista.
Es co-fundador y director
de EAFIT Urbam (Centro de
Estudios Urbanos y Ambien -
tales, Medellín). Jugó un papel
crucial en la transformación
urbana de Medellín, primero
como Gerente General de la
Empresa de Desarrollo Urbano
(EDU) (2004–05) y después
como Director de Proyectos
Urbanos del Municipio de
Medellín (2005–08), liderando
la conceptualización e imple -
mentación del Urbanismo
Social.
KIM ANNALUZ GUNDLACH
(1991) está inscrita en el programa
máster en Arquitec tura
y Diseño Urbano de la TU
Berlín, donde también finalizó
su bachelor en 2016. Ha trabajado
como estudiante contratada
para CHORA – Cátedra
para la planeación sostenible
y diseño urbano en 2016 y
2017. Actualmente trabaja en
Berlin como arquitecta inde -
pen diente y promotora de pro -
yec tos para la revista BauNetz.
RUPALI GUPTE
(1974) es arquitecta y urbanista
que ejerce y enseña su
profesión en Mumbai, India.
Se enfoca en condiciones
urbanas tácticas e inter venciones
de diseño. Tiene una
maestría de la Universidad
Cornell con la asignatura
principal en Diseño Urbano y
la asignatura secundaria en
Teoría Arquitectónica y Crítica.
Actualmente es Profesora

JULIANA GUTIÉRREZ
(1985) es co-fundadora y codirectora
de la ONG Low
Carbon City. Ha enfocado su

mobility, air quality,
the creative economy, and the
field of security and coexis -
tence, where he promotes education,
art, and civil culture
as transformative tools.
SONIA DIAS
(1962) is solid waste special ist
at Women in Informal
Employment: Globalizing and
Organizing (WIEGO). She
is a sociologist by training and
has been active in the field in
Brazil since 1985, with a focus
on promoting the integration of
social inclusion aspects into
the technical planning of waste
collection and recycling.
ALEJANDRO ECHEVERRI
(1973) is an architect and urban
planner. He is the co‐founder
and director of EAFIT Urbam
(Centre for Urban and Environmental
Studies, Medellín).
He has played a crucial role in
the urban transformation of
Medellín, first as general
manager of the Urban Development
Corporation (EDU)
(2004–05) and later as the
director of urban projects for
the Municipality of Medellín
(2005–08), leading the conceptualization
and implementation
of Urbanismo Social.
LUCIA FERNANDEZ
(1980) works for WIEGO as
the Waste Picker Global Coordinator
and is a doctoral
candidate in architecture at the
National Public University
of Uruguay. She is an assistant
professor at the Institute of
Theory and Urbanism in the
Faculty of Architecture, and at
the Social and Solidarity
Economy & Cooperatives Unit.
DAVID GOUVERNEUR
(1953) is an architect and urban
planner. He is an Associate
Professor for Landscape Architecture
and Regional Planning
at the University of Pennsylvania
School of Design in the
United States. His professional
practice focuses on urban
planning, new centralities and
mixed‐use districts, improvement
of existing informal
settlements, and planning
ahead for emergent informal
occupation.
KIM ANNALUZ GUNDLACH
(1991) is enrolled in the
master’s program for Architecture
and Urban Design at
TU Berlin where she also completed
her Bachelor degree in
2016. She worked as a student
assistant for CHORA – Chair
for Sustainable Planning and
Urban Design from 2016–2017.
Currently she works in Berlin
as a freelance architect and a
project developer for BauNetz
magazine.
RUPALI GUPTE
(1974) is an architect and
urbanist practicing and
teaching in Mumbai. She is
interested in tactical urban
conditions and design
interventions. Gupte has an
MA from Cornell University,
with a major in urban design
and minor in architectural
theory and criticism. She is
currently an Associate Pro fes -
sor at the School of Envi ronment
and Architecture,
Mumbai.
JULIANA GUTIÉRREZ

Carbon City. In her career, she
has focused on international
cooperation for development
and sustainability. She has
worked on, volunteered, and
led different social and environmental
