MARK SPEAK-
MAN NSW Attorney
General and “Minister
for Time” points
out that the laws of
time in NSW are governed
b y the Standard
Time Act 1987 which
provides that the summer
time period starts
“at 2am on the first
Sunday in October
each year”.
Labour Day falls on
the first Monday in
October.
This year the first
Monday in October
is the first day of the
month therefore the
first Sunday in October
falls on October
7
Ṡunday won’t fall
on October 7 again
until 2029 meaning a
baby born on Monday
October 8 will be on
the eve of their eleventh
birthday the next
time the coincidence
occurs.
Daylight saving will
end on Sunday April
7, 2019.
DAYLIGHT SAV-
ING may be on the
way out. There is a
move in Europe to
end the messing with
the clocks, watches
and time pieces as
they say it has worn
out its usefulness.
And I certainly agree.
The European Parliament
has referred
the matter to individual
countries to come
back for a united front
so change seems almost
certain to be on
its way. Hooray!
