Father-son orthodontists open location in Hubbard Woods

Mack went on to become
a football college
star for the University
of Buffalo of the Mid-
American Conference and
then an NFL superstar for
Oakland for four seasons
before being traded to the
Bears on Sept. 1 and immediately
signing a sixyear,
$141 million contract
extension that made
the 27-year-old linebacker
the highest paid defensive
player in history.
After signing he joked
about buying a new home,
telling Adam Hoge, of
WGN Radio: “I’m trying
to get on the phone with
my financial advisor to figure
out what I can afford.”
Mack’s search for a
house brought him to Glencoe.
Using a land trust, he
spent $3.75 million to purchase
a 9,300 square-foot
newly-built mansion on
a half-acre lot in the east
Glencoe neighborhood. It
was first reported by Chicago
Tribune’s Elite Street
real estate section.
The two-story mansion
went under contract on
Sept. 10 and closing was
on Sept. 14. When it went
on the market in July, the
asking price was $3,925
million.
The seller represented
the builder, Newgard
Custom Homes, while
Mack was represented by
Paul Gorney, of Coldwell
Banker.
Newgard Custom
Homes is a firm specializing
in demolishing aging
North Shore homes and
replacing them with mansions.
The original home
at that location was built in
1913 by Robert Seyfarth,
a prominent North Shore
designer.
