losing control. Van Zelst
kicked a 36-yard field goal
with 53 seconds to play
in the first half but late in
the third quarter the Broncos
answered with a 36-
yard touchdown pass from
Brazziel to Nate Muersch,
moving the visitors to within
three points.
Van Zelst’s 23-yard field
goal widened the Ramblers’
lead to 27-20 with
9:36 remaining in the contest
and this time Montini’s
response was an 81-yard
drive finished by Brazziel’s
3-yard touchdown pass to
Muersch followed by his
pass to Matthew Ross for
the game-winning twopoint
conversion.
The Ramblers’ ensuing
counterattack was halted
at the Montini 36-yard line
with 2:07 to play. When
the Broncos took possession
they continued their
domineering play and the
game ended with them on
Loyola’s 8-yard line.
The North Shore Country
Day School golfer is a senior
on the girls golf team.
When did you start
playing golf and why?
I started playing golf in
sixth grade, but I started
consistently playing in my
sophomore year of high
school. I started playing because
my mom signed me
up for a golf camp and she
thought it would be a good
sport for me, so I went to
the camp and enjoyed it
and continued to play.
What’s your favorite
part about golf?
My favorite thing about
golf is how peaceful and
relaxing it is when you
are playing. The weather
is usually perfect, and you
can have a good time on
the course if you are by
yourself or with friends.
Do you have any
superstitions before,
during or after a
match?
I have to swing my
driver, seven iron and
eight iron before the match
starts because if I don’t, I
feel like I will play bad no
matter what. I don’t need
to hit any balls, but I have
to swing those three clubs.
If you could play
another sport, what
would it be and why?
If I could play another
sport outside of golf and
basketball, I think it would
be volleyball because I enjoy
watching it and it looks
so fun and exciting.
What’s been your
favorite moment at
NSCDS (athletics or
otherwise)?
One of my favorite moments
at NSCDS is starting
the first girl’s golf team it
is something I would never
forget, and I will always be
proud of. I hope it continues
long after I graduate.
What’s the best part
about being a NSCDS
athlete?
The best part about being
an NSCDS athlete has
to be the people I have met
if I were not an athlete I
would not have met some
of the people I have grown
to be close with through
my high school journey.
At NSCDS, sports help
you to become apart of the
community, and you get to
know people in the grades
above and below you.
What’s the best advice
you’ve ever gotten?
The best advice I have
PHOTO SUBMITTED
ever gotten was, “Always
strive to do your best and do
not be afraid to speak your
mind and be different.”
What’s your favorite
restaurant and what
do you get there?
My favorite restaurant
is Ain’t She Sweet Cafe,
and I always get the Jerk
Salmon Wrap and a small
Tropical Breezer.
What’s your guilty
pressure?
My guilty pleasure is all
things sweet especially ice
cream and brownies.
If you won a million
dollars, what would
you do with it?
If I won a million dollars,
I would invest it into my
future. I want to be a psychiatrist
so I could save it
and open my practice with
the money after I get my
degree, or I would also use
half of it to pay for college
and the other half I would
put into stocks and invest
into a company or an idea.
