Functions<br />
COUNCIL<br />
> approves policy relating to all <strong>University</strong> activities within a strategic framework<br />
> through the Vice-Chancellor, oversees the entire management <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong><br />
> monitors the performance <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> against its goals<br />
Committees <strong>of</strong> Council: Audit Committee; Buildings and Site Committee; Finance Committee; Honorary Degrees Committee;<br />
Legislation Committee; Student Conduct Committee and <strong>University</strong> Promotions Committee.<br />
VICE-CHANCELLOR AND SENIOR EXECUTIVE<br />
> implement Council policy. The Client Services Division assists and supports in the provision <strong>of</strong> plans, policies and<br />
procedures with respect to communication, information and information technology.<br />
> are responsible for the <strong>University</strong>’s academic program, including academic plans, policies and procedures to support<br />
teaching and research and for the administrative services <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong>, including plans, policies and procedures with<br />
respect to financial, human and physical resources assisted by the Corporate Services Division.<br />
ACADEMIC BOARD<br />
> advises Council regarding academic development<br />
> awards degrees, diplomas and certificates<br />
> develops policies and procedures for student admission and progress<br />
> establishes and monitors academic standards<br />
> reports to Council on courses and proposed courses<br />
Committees <strong>of</strong> Academic Board: Admissions Committee; Education Committee; Honours Committee; Research Committee;<br />
Student Appeals Committee; <strong>University</strong> Higher Degrees Committee and Scholarships and Prizes Committee.<br />
DIVISIONAL EDUCATION COMMITTEES<br />
Within the framework <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong>’s regulations and Academic Board policy and guidelines; co-ordinate and oversee<br />
the Division’s responsibilities under the <strong>University</strong>’s Statute and Rules and the implementation <strong>of</strong> university educational<br />
policy and practice including:<br />
> development <strong>of</strong> new courses and changes to courses<br />
> examination results and certifying course completions<br />
> advanced standing and student progress<br />
> academic and administrative activities <strong>of</strong> their respective academic Divisions<br />
Membership: Pro Vice-Chancellor (Division) or nominee; a representative from each School; Divisional Business Team Leader<br />
(ex-<strong>of</strong>ficio); Student representation.<br />
DIVISIONS<br />
> advise students on course requirements, assessment and progress, and student facilities<br />
> deliver the <strong>University</strong>’s academic program.<br />
