UNIVERSITY OF CANBERRA ANNUAL REPORT 2001 50 Statement of responsibility for the annual Financial Statements of the University of Canberra In accordance with a resolution of the Council of the University of Canberra, being responsible for the preparation of the annual financial statements of the University and the judgements exercised in preparing them, we state that: In the opinion of the Council, the following financial statements fairly reflect the financial operations and service performance of the University during the year and the financial position of the University at the end of the year. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Financial Management Act (1996) as amended by the University of Canberra Act (1989), Australian Accounting Standards and other mandatory professional reporting requirements. In our opinion at the time of the certificate there are reasonable grounds to believe that the institution will be able to pay its debts as and when they fall due. The amount of Commonwealth financial assistance expended during the reporting period was for the purpose(s) for which it was provided.
