2018 WAS A SOLID YEAR for the 2nd XV of Bishops.
With regular call-ups from the 1st XV, building
continuity was quite tough. All the players should be
commended for their efforts and commitment every
week as this served as the basis of building our team
character and gusto needed to play in such a
demanding league. Great memories were made
throughout the season and many precious lessons
were learnt when things got tough. Memorable
victories definitely include the tight encounter against
Boland Landbou, great rugby against St Andrews and
the 46–7 thrashing of Wynberg in which we played our
best game of the season. The boys were always willing
to put their bodies on the line and this was rewarded
with the sought-after “Triple Crown” at the end of the
season. This was a great send-off for our matric players
who really played a vital role in welcoming and guiding
the Grade 11s to senior rugby. I am confident that
these lessons will pay off in 2019 as we look to further
build and improve our rugby going forward.
