Bishops has a long and proud rugby heritage and has always adopted a distinctive style of play, emphasising the running game. While the modern laws of rugby and improved defensive strategies have made it difficult to play the beautiful running game that we have always aspired to; we still favour a skillful 15-man approach. Bishops has enjoyed a very successful 2018 season with our 1st XV leading the way. The future holds a great deal of promise with some excellent junior teams and much to look forward to; not least an overseas tour to Ireland next year, which has created a great deal of excitement. Rugby is a special game; it caters for all boys, whatever their shape, size, skill or speed. There is place for the “fatty or thinny, the tall or the short, the fast or the slow”. It fosters and engenders a wonderful sense of camaraderie and spirit. It is a multi-faceted game which, if played properly, develops all-round skills. I would like to thank everyone involved in the support of the Bishops rugby brand. All funds raised are used to develop coaching skills and to provide specialised equipment, which will allow us to offer top level coaching and conditioning of our boys. Guy Pearson PRINCIPAL 2
