TO IMPLEMENT
JOB COSTING FOR
PAYROLL EXPENSES IN
QUICKBOOKS 2018
SMBs and other middle-sized businesses have taken a resting
breath after the moment Intuit, the designer of QuickBooks,
declared cloud deployment in the QuickBooks software range.
For business industry, the time is not less than a revolution period
where most of the SMBs got the chance to cut out unwanted
IT expenses. Intuit, the leader of wisest decisions & strategies,
chose third parties for server alike needs and soon got success
in naming cloud network handling platforms as QuickBooks
server. Presumably, the main vision of hand over hosting related
tasks to third parties is to boost their future projects and focus
on goals precisely.
Job Costing is the
accurate way to know
the exact pay for each
job and thus it is very
popular among taskbased
businesses.
Plenty businesses of today are unable to figure out the real aspects
of profitability which in turns making it quite difficult for
businesses to earn well. However, Job Costing is the accurate
way to know the exact pay for each job and thus it is very popular
among task-based businesses. SMBs and even huge enterprises
find job costing as one of the most intact ways to cut the
unnecessary wages that a company asks to pay to their employees
in return for the work they had done. Construction firms,
Professional service provider companies & other non-profit organizations
are the major sectors that can have the pure benefit
of job costing.
8 CONSTRUCTIONMONTHLY.COM

STEPS TO SETUP
QUICKBOOKS JOB
COSTING & ITEM TRACK
PAYCHECK EXPENSES!!
• Choose “Edit” from the top menu bar and then click
“preferences”.
• Select “Accounting” from the pane opened on the
left.
• Then, click on the “Company Preferences” tab.
• Ensure that the Use class tracking box is marked
with a tick and Click “OK”.
In order to get full benefits of job costing feature within
your business premises, you need to first search out
all the difficult job that is needy as per your business
requirements but not necessarily require full-time
worker. Afterwhile, identifying jobs that are not so
profitable for your business could also help to figure
out where all the profit actually going!
However, these are the quick steps using which you
can start job costing smart strategy within your business
as well.
Note: Mistakenly, If the checkbox remains unchecked
then the options to Assign one class per Entire paycheck
or Earnings item will not be available.
• Similarly, Revise Step 1 and select “Payroll and Employees”.
• Then, put the check mark in the Job Costing box
and click”OK”.
Further, checkmark on class and Item checking for paycheck
expenses and decide how you want to track via
Entire Paycheck or Earnings Item.
SIMPLE GUIDE TO IMPLEMENT JOB COSTING ... CONTINUED
It is equally important to keep in mind that whenever you
create or edit payroll items in the QuickBooks software,
one checkbox “Track Expenses” is being displayed on the
desktop. On selecting this checkbox, QuickBooks desktop
shifts all the items on employees paychecks just the
way it does company-paid taxes.
QUICK POINTS TO
REMEMBER WHILE
IMPLEMENTING JOB
COSTING IN QUICKBOOKS
Commitment to understanding the perks job costing going
to offer to your business.
• Enabling Estimates in your QuickBooks software and
also selecting Yes under “Do you create estimates?”
and “Do you use progress invoicing?”.
• Assigning Expense Account to subcontractor items
to make fetching of working hours easy and hassle-free.
• Create jobs for your business by noticing each and
every expense that you need to pay while serving
customers.
• Use Estimates and Progress Invoicing to change orders
correctly and consistently right after knowing
the issues.
Without asking for extra expense and effort and integrating
into the ongoing accounting software, Job costing
let you have the rewards of enabling cost tracker for
manufacturing jobs and saves you from the long process
of calculating.
QUALITIES
OF AN
EFFECTIVE
CONSTRUCTION
PROJECT MANAGER
BY GRAEME HICK - EZINEARTICLE WRITER
A CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER IS RESPONSIBLE
FOR MANAGING THE ENTIRE PROJECT. AND WHETHER
THE PROJECT WILL BE A SUCCESS OR FAILURE DEPENDS
LARGELY ON HOW EFFECTIVE OR INEFFECTIVE THE
MANAGER IS. SO FOR A CONSTRUCTION PROJECT TO
SUCCEED, INVESTORS NEED TO HIRE EFFECTIVE PRO-
JECT MANAGERS AND PROJECT MANAGERS NEED TO
LEARN HOW TO BE SO. HERE ARE SIX QUALITIES TO SPOT
OR BE AN EFFECTIVE PROJECT MANAGER:
1Maintain excellent health and safety standard on site:
Onsite accidents harm projects in multiple ways. Apart
from the loss of workforce and the resultant productivity,
it invites bad
press, legal trouble, and THE WORK OF A CONSTRUCmuch
more. To be an
excellent manager, maintaining
excellent onsite EXTREMELY COMPLEX AND
2Excellent communication: You are responsible to lead the
workforce to achieve a specific goal and that requires clear
and confident commands. You have to communicate tasks
to workers, motivate them when they need and understand
their problems to solve it. And how can you do it without possessing
excellent communication skills?
3Ability to delegate tasks and maximize productivity: Managers
and workers are judged differently. A worker excellence
lies in how well he does the job while a manager is measured
by how handsomely he gets the job done. Needless to say,
he must have the ability to size up workers’ strengths, weaknesses,
expertise and potentials and then delegate tasks to ones most suitable.
This is a great way to bring out the best in everyone and achieve
maximum productivity.
SPECIAL NASHVILLE SHOW EDITION 2018 13

6 QUALITIES OF AN EFFECTIVE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER...CONT
4Ability to prioritize activities: A construction
project is not a single task but a combination of
various activities that are multi-faceted, complex
and above all interdependent. An effective construction
manager must know how to prioritize activities.
What must be done first and which tasks can be taken care
of later so that productivity doesn’t suffer due to inter
dependencies.
5Value teamwork: Construction is not a solo effort
but a team game. It involves a lot of cooperation
and collaboration among diverse groups and individuals.
Moreover, teamwork creates a more positive
atmosphere boosting overall morale and productivity.
6Possess problem solving skills: No construction
project is devoid of its share of problems and obstacles.
They have the tendency to crop up at the
most inopportune moment, leading to delay and
overspending. To take best care of such irritants, a manager
must possess excellent problem solving skills. He must
be able to predict and forecast what problems a project
may encounter, and have multiple options and solutions
ready. These problems include everything from weather
issues, delivery delays and even personal issues amongst
team members. A good construction manager is able to
devise strategies that are specific to a particular project
and tailored to a unique group of individuals.
Final Thoughts
The work of a construction project manager is extremely
complex and multi-dimensional. You are dealing both with
physical stuffs (like materials and equipment) as well as
emotional (workers). And so you need both technical skills
as well as people’s skills.
You are required to be welcoming and approachable to
create an atmosphere that workers enjoy being a part of.
Dedication to both work-related and personal development
is an integral part of what makes a good construction
manager. And I hope these six tips will go a long way in
helping you become that.
Graeme Hick life revolves around two “C’s”: Cricket and
Construction. When his mind space is not occupied by
cricket, you can find him reading and writing about construction.
Get Complete Control of Construction Projects
With BIM Services
AUTHOR BISWANATH TODI
writer for ezinearticles.com
BIM SERVICES FACILITATE CONSTRUCTION PROFESSIONALS TO GET
COMPLETE CONTROL OF THEIR PROJECTS. INTERFERENCE AMONG
BUILDING SYSTEMS CAN BE CHECKED WITH 3D BIM MODELING.
CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES, IMPLEMENTING BIM IN THEIR WORK
PROCESSES ARE ABLE TO VISUALIZE SCHEMATIC STRUCTURES BEFORE
CONSTRUCTION, OFFERING BETTER PROJECT PLANS. CLASHES GET EASILY
DETECTED, ELIMINATING SYSTEM CONFLICT BEFORE INSTALLATION.
DEDICATED 3D BIM MODELERS STREAMLINE PROCESS ACROSS BUILDING
LIFECYCLE EMPOWERING PROFESSIONALS TO GET A COMPLETE VIEW OF
THE CONSTRUCTION.
Let’s now check out how
the constructional professionals
can get complete
control of construction
with BIM?
Reviewing
Constructability
Issues
Proficient Engineers work with 3d to 6d
BIM, facilitating project coordination, asset
management, logistic planning as well
as accurate cost estimate. BIM helps to
resolve constructability issues by finding
out inconsistency in the input drawings,
incomplete information, dimension error
in plan and section drawings and more.
The engineers can make root cause analysis
for the dimension errors, resulting in
clashes. Moreover, the size of the structures
can be revised, incorporated and
relocated. In order to take an instance,
if beam is clashing with window, the size
of the window can be revised. If floor and
beam cut-out are missing in drawing, cutout
can be incorporated. Furthermore, if
manhole is clashing with structure, the
manhole location can be shifted.
Visualizing
Construction
Sequence
The whole sequence of construction can
be visualized with 4D BIM, which helps
project stakeholders in visualizing the
whole series of construction events, understanding
the progress of construction
16 CONSTRUCTIONMONTHLY.COM

activity, throughout the lifetime of project. The sequence of construction can be linked to
BIM Model to show real time simulation in an animated video. Based on 4D Presentation,
planned vs. actual construction sequence can be compared throughout project lifecycle.
Construction planners can explore 4D simulation to assess the significance of proposed design
on construction schedule and work process. They can detect clashes, enhance construction
schedule, track materials and manage supply chain. 4D BIM acts as a powerful communication
tool among project stakeholders, resulting in better understanding of project
milestone and construction plan. Delays and rework are minimized, helping project team to
carefully plan and coordinate operations down to last detail both in time and space.
Saving Cost & Time
BIM helps to save significant time and money for the project. Cost can be saved for labor,
MEP items, dismantling, rework, reinforcement validation, design changes and more. Total
man days are also saved from BIM like man-days for civil items like concrete steel reinforcement,
finishing, shuttering, interior items, façade, man-days for dismantling and man-days
for rework. Revit design and fabrication model in Navisworks can be combined to avoid the
cost of rework from the existence of clashes.
Implement BIM technology solution for construction to maximize return on investment,
saving time and aiding successful project execution. BIM plays a vital role in design optimization,
coordination and construction management. Adopt BIM and facilitate design disciplines
to collaborate in a flawless manner, enhancing work efficiency, reducing errors, verifying
aesthetic looks and enhancing building performance.
Pinnacle Infotech offers BIM
Services to AEC firms across
the globe, facilitating project
coordination, risk mitigation,
logistic planning and cost
optimization. More than 850 BIM
professionals collaborate across
time zones with delivery centers
in India, USA, UK, UAE, Italy &
Switzerland.
SIGNIFICANCE
OF SUSTAINABLE
CONCRETE
INFRASTRUCTURE
By Basharat K
In the developed countries, the construction industry allocates
around 40-50% of the construction budget on rehabilitation
of existing concrete infrastructure. Maintenance,
repair, seismic retrofitting, and inspection constitute a major
portion of the rehabilitation cost. Concrete structures,
such as tunnels, water tanks, and bridges, are difficult and
costly to construct and maintain. Investments in new infrastructure
and in repair and maintenance of the existing
infrastructure are huge. The requirements for durability,
sustainability and productivity are increasing.
In the UK alone, more than 500 million pounds are
spent on the rehabilitation of structurally deficient
concrete structures. The rehabilitation process of
bridges and roads also involve heavy indirect costs. Maintenance
activities cause less disruption to road users if
they are carried out in a well-planned and timely manner.
The concrete reinforcement is one of the most crucial materials
that determine the strength and expected service
life of a structure. Traditional steel reinforcement, for example,
is not susceptible to corrosion which ultimately leads
to expensive repair and maintenance. Civil engineers have to
select the materials carefully as the requirements for longer
service life with minimum maintenance is increasing.
Widespread structural deficiency increases the constraints
on the materials to be used. At the same time, society is also
imposing environmental demands, and even if durability is
the most important environmental parameter for infrastructure
constructions, environmental issues are the main drivers
for the development of new materials. These new materials
include, for example, FRP reinforcement and cement with reduced
environmental impact.
DID YOU KNOW...
In the developed countries, the construction industry allocates
around 40-50% of the construction budget on rehabilitation of
existing concrete infrastructure.
18 CONSTRUCTIONMONTHLY.COM

FRP composite materials have gained
considerable popularity and acceptance
in the civil engineering circles
due to their unique and desirable
properties. Corrosion resistance, high
strength, ease of installation, and minimum
maintenance are some of the factors that
make FRP composites a potential solution
to deterioration and steel corrosion.
In order to meet the future requirements,
it is essential that structural engineers
explore innovative and environmentally
friendly materials. Concrete deterioration
is a challenging issue that calls for
the development of sustainable materials
and modern construction techniques. All
the stakeholders, from researchers, material
producers and construction agencies
have to play their role in order to
make civil infrastructure more dependable
and sustainable.
The application of FRP composites in civil
engineering should be promoted worldwide.
Countries like Canada, Japan, and
the US are already using FRP construction
products as an alternative to steel and
other traditional materials. It has become
inevitable to construct sustainable, maintenance
free, and long-lasting concrete
structures. Governments can save billions
of dollars every year by making a good use
of innovative and promising materials.
How GPS
Vehicle Trackers
Improve
Navigation
& SAVE YOUR TIME
By Amrit Mirpuri
ezinearticles.com
With more cars on the roads than ever before, managing
your everyday commute can be quite a hassle
without a GPS vehicle tracker giving you navigation
tips and traffic information. What initially started as
a safety feature has now become a necessity for vehicle
owners, offering so many benefits in so many ways
that people don’t want to buy a car without a GPS
tracker anymore. The tech does more than just give
you a real-time update of your vehicle’s location - it
can also help save a lot of your time that would otherwise
be wasted on getting trapped in traffic jams on
overcrowded streets. Wish to learn more about how
this amazing piece of tech can help you with your driving?
Read this article and find out:
Route optimization
City roads are always overcrowded, especially during peak traffic
hours when even the smallest of commutes can eat up a lot
of your productive time. Issues such as constructions, accidents
or special events like VIP movement also lead to roads getting
cordoned off and traffic getting diverted. Without a GPS vehicle
tracker giving you real time information about what lies ahead,
you will never know to change your route before it is too late,
and you are caught in a traffic jam. The route optimization features
of GPS trackers can help you avoid such scenarios and save
a lot of time and frustration.
Vehicle maintenance
Many GPS vehicle trackers these days come equipped with
telematics features including vehicle diagnostics, engine temperature
indicators, fuel gauge, engine oil level displays and
more. These are designed to give you a heads up about the
health of your vehicle so that you can take necessary correc-
would otherwise have been wasted in making constant
phone calls to drivers for coordinating rides.
Improved
navigation
For car owners who love taking their vehicles out
on exploratory rides, having a GPS tracker can be a
major boon as it can give them real time data about
their location, which will be extremely helpful in
finding their bearings in case a driver is lost, and
in charting out the further route to take. Improved
navigation and location tracking can help prevent
many unnecessary delays and ensure the driver gets
to their destination using the best, safest and most
time-saving road possible.
GPS vehicle trackers can truly make your rides faster,
safer and more hassle free. What do you think?
tive action well in time and avoid troublesome and delay-causing consuming
breakdowns. The idea is to make your vehicle maintenance and
performance more predictable so as to ensure that you are able to extract
maximum utility from the machine, as and when you need it.
Better coordination
Whether you run a transportation enterprise with a fleet of different vehicles
or have a car meant for family use, knowing where and how the machine
is being used can give you better insight into managing the vehicle.
Knowing the current location of your car can save a lot of your time that
7
ways
construction
firms can
hire and retain
quality tradesmen
By Mark Trescothic
WHETHER YOU ARE A CONSTRUCTION
RECRUITMENT AGENCY OR A CON-
STRUCTION FIRM ITSELF LOOKING TO
HIRE THE BEST OF TALENT INDUSTRY
HAS TO OFFER, HERE ARE A FEW
IMPORTANT TIPS TO HELP YOU IN
THIS QUEST.
HIRE IN THE OFF SEASON:
Conventional wisdom has it that you must
never go grocery shopping while you are
hungry. You tend to buy whatever you get at
the earliest and that’s almost never a good
bargain. The same is true for hiring tradesmen
when you need them.
So the best time to look for a tradesman is
when you don’t require one. It will help you
scan wide range of talents, be more selective,
and acquire the kind of worker you exactly
want. As an added piece of advice, aim for
the off-season when many construction
workers are out of work and you might get a
bargain.
PAY THE MARKET RATE:
When you pay peanuts, you get only monkey! Firms
who pay below-market wages not only have the
32 CONSTRUCTIONMONTHLY.COM

least-qualified and least-productive employees, but they are
also the ones always in need of new workers. Why? Because
competitive tradesmen will leave you the moment they get
more lucrative opportunities. Do I need to tell you what a dent it
makes to overall productivity?
PROVIDE A SAFE WORK
ENVIRONMENT:
Don’t underestimate the value of a safe and healthy workplace in
retaining workforce. Too many workers falling sick on site might
force others to look for a safer option. A major accident on site
and the resultant bad press might turn away potential hires.
DEVELOP A GREAT WORK
CULTURE:
There is something more than a good salary a qualified and
talented tradesman look forward to. Bonuses, paid leaves,
company outings, work-life balance, and retirement programs
are some of the perks that entice the best of talents. The more
people want to work for your company, the easier it will be to
attract (and retain) quality people.
INVEST IN YOUR WORKFORCE:
I haven’t met a tradesman who doesn’t like adding on new skills
or getting a pat on the back for a job well done. So it’s a good
idea to invest in your workforce. When you provide them a
chance to learn, grow and develop they can help your company
do the same. Training improves the efficiency of the workers and
quality of the output. This is also a great way to identify the people
with potential to take on bigger roles within the company.
BE IN STEP WITH TIME AND
TECHNOLOGY:
Embracing technology not only makes the company more efficient
and productive but it also attracts younger and tech-savvy
workforce. You can also publicize it as your USP to entice people
buying your product or services.
CHARACTER CAN PAY MORE DIVI-
DEND THAN THE SKILL-SET OF
A HIRE:
Characters can’t be built, skills can be. People with character
can make the most of the training you give them. Such workers
are more likely to stick with you in bad times as compared to
those with only skills and potential.
TIPS TO BUYING
A572 GRADE 50 STEEL
By Jeff Weigang
ezinearticles.com
IDENTIFY THE ENVIRONMENT
Identifying the environment that the alloy will be exposed to is critical. You should
establish the lowest and highest temperature that it could possibly be exposed to
so that you know whether the metal will hold up or not. A Charpy test can also tell
you about how brittle the metal will become in certain temperatures.
Additionally, you want to look at the possibility of corrosion. One of the benefits
of A572 Grade 50 is that it has an increased resistance to atmospheric corrosion.
36 CONSTRUCTIONMONTHLY.COM

You need to familiarize yourself with all of the key characteristics
so that you can determine whether this
is the right category of steel for your specific
job. Whether it is being used in fabrication,
construction, an industrial setting, or something
else, the characteristics of the alloy
need to work well for you.
FIND THE RIGHT
SUPPLIER
The supplier should be reputable within the
industry. You can read through their website
to find out what they offer and how long
they have been in business. Additionally, you
can utilize online reviews to tell you more
about what they have been on mobile to
offer other businesses. Once you know more
about the reputation, you can then discuss
costs and other details with them.
There’s nothing wrong with asking questions
before getting started. If you have questions
about the quality, the conditions, or anything
else, work with the supplier or with an
organization such as the ABS.
You won’t have to worry about going through any additional
treatments. You’ll also get the long-term value that you hope
to get with steel because of it being able to withstand all of the
elements you expose it to.
IDENTIFY KEY CHARACTERISTICS
There is a reason that A572 grade 50 steel has been nicknamed
the workhorse grade. It is used in a variety of applications because
of its high strength. It is commonly formed into beams and
channels because of its ability to withstand a significant amount
of weight. You will even find that you need to use less of the material
to achieve the strength requirements of the project.
When you know that you want to buy A572
Grade 50, be sure to find a supplier you can
count on. Focus on quantity, delivery timeframes,
and pricing. A good supplier will
partner with you to make sure that all of
your needs are met. It will be what ultimately
leads to the success of the project you are
working on - as well as future projects.
Ranger Steel has always strived to form
personal relationships with customers in a
wide variety of industries. The industries we
serve are as follows: ship building, oil and
gas, mining, light and heavy commercial and
industrial construction; service centers; as
well as fabricators for heavy plate, vessel
and heat exchangers, storage tanks, bridges,
electrical transmission, and railcars.
WHAT MAKES ERP
AN IMPERATIVE SOLUTION FOR
THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY?
By Rob Stephen - ezinearticles.com
38 CONSTRUCTIONMONTHLY.COM

The construction industry is undeniably the foundation of an economy.
A well-populated and commercially advanced economy need
adequate infrastructure, concrete architectural support and planned
facilities for the smooth flow of business and trade. All these heaped
up the demands for construction materials and equipment. However,
it became quite challenging for the construction firms in regard to their
business management owing to the increased level of material transactions
and project constructions.
Effective development and management of construction projects is a
great deal for the enterprises because they depend on strategic resources
planning and execution. An ERP solution can bring great relief to the
construction enterprises helping managers to make comprehensive plans
for the projects, from their onset to final outcome. Here’s a quick detailing
of the beneficial facts that makes ERP a compelling solution for every
construction firm.
Effective tool for planning and analysis
Projects can fail dreadfully without systematic planning and channelling
of resources with the guidance of an architectural enterprise. Many
organisations incur great losses due to substandard completion of the
projects, unexpected labour costs, or delays in completion. An ERP software
prevents such ineffectiveness or failures with the right channelling
of resources. With exact analysis of materials required, manpower estimation,
building designing and contract management, it helps in removing
unnecessary downtime and other complications in project completion.
Helps in data assimilation
A pivotal reason for embracing ERP solutions by the construction firms
is to assimilate data of the disparate processes into one storage system.
This aids in the easy management of the data, enhancing the efficiency of
processes. It helps in dynamic analysis of the assimilated data, be it operational
or functional and provide the construction firms with real-time and
most accurate information.
Streamlines processes with data management
Construction ERP software has become more project-oriented as firms
demand a solution that can handle a lot of tenders at a time. Having to
look for a lot of data and compiling them in data sheets or different software
systems is cumbersome for the construction firms when they have
multiple-projects in hand. An ERP solution is thus of great help as it allows
data compilation in one single system. This results in an effective exchange
of information among all the operational areas
of a construction business.
Improvement in Overall efficiency
On the obvious note, a centralised system
for processes management helps in improving
the efficiency of the construction businesses
by providing the overall view of all the operations.
An integrated ERP solution aids in
retrieving any data anytime, take decisions
appropriately and thus increases the efficiency
of the system altogether.
Helps in Projects Cost estimation
Most construction projects take the span of a
number of years to complete, for which planning
of the expenses have to made by considering
future overheads. An ERP with its finance or
accounting module helps in the exact cost estimates
so that the actual cost of projects do not
exceed its projected cost.
While a majority of unsuccessful projects are
due to the lack of planning strategies, an ERP
software can help in the strategic management
of large-scale projects besides handling other
aspects like materials procurement, inventory,
orders and sales.
Rob Stephen is an avid software developer
with experience in Odoo ERP development. He
works for Vision & Solutions which is a top-ranking
ERP software provider in Australia and official
Odoo partner.
Benefits of Attending
Trade Shows for
Businesses
by By Darryl Neal
writer for ezinearticles.com
EVERY YEAR AROUND THE WORLD, THOUSANDS OF COMPA-
NIES SET UP EXHIBITION STANDS AT TRADE SHOWS, AND MIL-
LIONS UPON MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ATTEND THEM. IN ALMOST
EVERY INDUSTRY THERE IS A TRADE FAIR OR CONVENTION
THAT IS CONSIDERED A “MUST-ATTEND” EVENT, YET WHAT
ARE THE REASONS FOR THIS, AND IS IT REALLY WORTH AT-
TENDING THIS KIND OF EVENT?
One of the main benefits of attending a trade fair is the fact that
it gives many companies the chance to scope out the market and
what their competitors and associates are doing. Many businesses
will invest in the best booth designs that will allow them to show off
the projects they are working on in an interactive way, meaning that
visitors can really get to grips with developments.
designs that make your offerings stand out from the crowd.
Expertly developed booth designs will help draw customers to
your exhibitions stand, give you the opportunity to explain what
you have to offer and win over potential new customers. To make
sure that your booth is set up for maximum effectiveness, consult
with a trusted exhibition stand designer for a detailed plan on how
to achieve this.
There are many other opportunities that arise at trade shows,
and one of these is the possibility to take part in any number of
educational talks and lectures, which can give you an insight into
various aspects of your industry. This can help you become better
educated in order to develop your own projects further, and therefore
pass the benefits of your knowledge on to clients.
AS WELL AS MAKING USEFUL INDUSTRY CONTACTS, MEET-
ING POTENTIAL NEW CUSTOMERS AND SCOPING OUT
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN YOUR SECTOR, THESE KINDS OF
EVENTS ALSO ALLOW YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO UNWIND
AND ENJOY SOCIALISING WITH LIKE MINDED INDIVIDU-
ALS, NOT TO MENTION KEEP YOU AND YOUR COLLEAGUES
MOTIVATED TO KEEP ON DOING GOOD WORK.
This is crucial information to glean for any business, as in all
industries new developments are being made all the time, and old
ones are falling by the wayside. Attending an event can therefore
provide an important insight into exactly what is happening in your
industry, right now.
As well as learning what the competition is up to in the way of
developing new projects, products and services, attending a trade
fair is also a great way to meet valuable industry contacts in the
flesh, which is why these events are often melting pots where a lot
of professionals come together and share ideas.
Regardless of the industry you are in, there will be undoubtedly
another company or professional in attendance at the fair that will
catch your interest, perhaps as a potential future associate or business
partner. This kind of trade show also gives the opportunity to
catch up with existing colleagues and associates who you may not
see face to face very frequently otherwise.
Thirdly, going to a trade fair is a great way to make contact with
potential customers. This works best, of course, if you are actually
exhibiting at the fair yourself, and have invested in some good booth
This can be especially true at events that are organised with
an intent to educate - many business development events will not
only feature exhibitions stands and booth designs from a variety of
professionals, but there will also be a heavy focus on learning and
business growth, which can have many benefits for your company.
Fifthly and finally, one reason why attending trade fairs is a
great idea is that it allows business owners and employees to have a
little bit of fun! Travelling and networking with other experts in the
industry are some of the perks of any job, and it can add variety to
any business’s routine.
