– it’s where the magic happens!
It truly is a magical time of year! Decorating the Christmas
tree, leaving a mince pie out for Santa, going out as a family
to see the big show at the theatre; these are the moments
that make childhood so special and memorable.
This year’s big Christmas family
show at Lincoln Performing
Arts Centre is Rapunzel, a
magical musical play adapted
from the original fairy tale. From
the creative team behind last
year’s enchanting Robin Hood &
Maid Marian and performed by
University of Lincoln’s graduating
Drama students, this is the ideal
festive treat for the whole family.
What really sets this Christmas
theatre show apart from anything
else on offer in the city is the
original music score, which has
been composed by the renowned
opera tenor Mark Wilde. Under
Wilde’s direction, the cast will
deliver an impressive vocal
performance. You’ll be able to
hear them sing a selection of
Christmas Carols in the Waterside
Shopping Centre on Friday
23rd November as part of the
celebrations for Christmas Lights
Switch On. You’ll also have the
chance to meet the characters in
full costume the following day on
Saturday 24th November, 11am
– 4pm when they will be returning
to the Waterside Shopping Centre
for a ‘Sneak Peek’ Meet & Greet
day, along with the Lincoln Drill
Hall and New Theatre Royal.
Rapunzel is recommended for
ages 6 and up, and there is a
Relaxed Performance on the
Friday 21st December showing at
2pm. In a Relaxed Performance,
audience members can move
around freely, leave and enter the
auditorium as needed, the lights
never go completely dark and
sound effects are softened.
LPAC puts a lot of thought into
the provision for young audiences.
You might already be aware of
their Lil’Pacs sessions, which take
place on Fridays in Zing Café Bar,
but did you know that they also
