Lincolnshire Heritage
christmas events for the whole family...
From a brand new event to some old favourites, Lincolnshire’s heritage
attractions have something for everyone this festive season.
Running from 15-22 December, the Lincoln
Castle Christmas Emporium is the ideal way
to kick-off your yuletide celebrations.
A spectacular Victorian-inspired light show will
form the centrepiece of this new Christmas
experience, complemented by stalls offering
unique arts, crafts, gifts and locally-sourced
food and drink, including a cosy tipi bar.
Castle manager Kimberley Vickers said:
“What better place to celebrate the magic of
Christmas with your family and friends than
historic Lincoln Castle?
“The breath-taking light show will be repeated
throughout the evening, and Santa himself will
be here and is looking forward to hearing your
Christmas wishes.
“You can also enjoy the spectacular evening
views from our Medieval Wall Walk, along with
great food and drink and Christmas cheer.
“It’s the perfect festive treat for all the family.
Don’t miss out!”
Tickets for the Christmas Emporium cost £7.50
for adults, £6.50 for concessions and £5 for
children. Family tickets are available for £20,
while annual pass holders can get in free.
And each ticket holder can visit the event as
many times as they like over the eight days.
The castle will also be hosting an Audience
with Father Christmas on 15,16, 20, 21, 22
and 23 December.
But that’s not the only festive treat the castle has
to offer.
If ever a story was to get you in the mood for
Christmas, then it has to be Charles Dickens’
much-loved classic A Christmas Carol.
2018 marks the 175th anniversary of this enduring
traditional tale, and, to celebrate, a first edition of
this most iconic Christmas work will be on display
at Lincoln Castle, kindly loaned by The British
Library.
book your tickets, visit www.lincolncastle.com
The council’s other heritage sites will also be
getting in the Christmas spirit with special events
across the festive season.
Gainsborough Old Hall’s ever-popular Victorian
Christmas Craft Fair returns on 24 and 25
November, followed by An Audience with Father
Christmas on 15 and 16 December.
On 7-9 December, the Museum of Lincolnshire
Life will be offering a Victorian Tearoom
experience, the perfect way to relax after a visit to
Lincoln Christmas Market.
And visitors to The Collection will be able to enjoy
a Christmas-themed museum quest and holiday
craft activities throughout the festive period.
