44 kilmacolm & quarriers Christmas Card Post Kilmacolm Scout Group will be providing a Christmas Card Postal Service again this December. All you do is post your local Christmas Cards in the Scout post box in either The Kilmacolm Community Centre or The Cross Café. You can post any time between Saturday 1st December and 6pm on Friday 14th December. A minimum 30p donation is kindly requested for each card. The cards will be delivered during the weekend of the 15th and 16th December. After a tense competition the winning team was from St Fillan’s, so congratulations to them. Remembrance Day - 11th November A moving and solemn joint service between The Old Kirk and St Columba’s, conducted by Rev. Peter McEnhill and Rev. Bill Armstrong, was held at The Old Kirk to mark the 100th anniversary of the WW1 armistice. The names of all 77 people from Kilmacolm who lost their lives in the Great War were read out, 11 of whom were teenagers. The singing of the joint congregation of the hymn ‘Make me a channel of your peace’ immediately following this was fulsome and heartfelt. . . . Monday 24th December - Annual Carols by Candlelight service at 7pm. This has proved to be a really special and well attended event; let’s gather to sing the carols and to consider again the true meaning of Christmas, topped off with seasonal refreshments. Tuesday 25th December - 10.30am, a lovely way to start Christmas day, worshipping the new-born King. Coming in January 2019... ... We at KRA are inviting people to join us in a reverse advent calendar drive. This is a simple idea which will benefi t some of the poorest families in Inverclyde. It’s easy and so worthwhile. 1. Get an old empty box 2. Fill the box with one item each day for 24 days (tins; dry food; toiletries; sweets) 3. Bring the box on 23/12/18 at Kilmacolm Scout Hall between 11am and 2 pm 4. The boxes will be collected and picked up by a Kilmacolm Residents Association representative and dropped at Inverclyde food bank. 5. OKFEST BREAKOUT - Sing-Along Mamma Mia 15th November Sing-Along Mamma Mia was terrifi c, well attended by young and old and by the end people were up and dancing. The practice will welcome both NHS and private patients to its new premises on Lochwinnoch Road – in the former Royal Bank of Scotland building.
