This year’s festival promises to be bigger than ever!!
We are delighted to announce that we have Karen
her compelling vocals of super-group Capercaillie.
touched by God” Sean Connery
As we approach the Christmas period the season of Advent is
traditionally a period of refl ection, and I would like to refl ect
and thank all community activists for all that they bring to
villages like Lochwinnoch, Howwood, and Kilbarchan. Be it as
community councillors, litter pickers, youth group leaders or gala
day organisers, I salute you all for the richness of commitment
that you all contribute to our communities which make them
better places to live. I realise these gifts are not given for praise,
but rarely is praise given so I want to say thank you.
I would also like to wish all my constituents across the ward, of all faiths and
none, a very happy and joyous Christmas. As families gather around the tree let
us all try and keep an eye on those, such as the very elderly, who may have little
or no family. Please consider the vulnerable and less fortunate this Christmas
and do all you can to help them. Family should be the keynote of every Christmas
so please think of those you have and hold dear, and those that are no longer
with us but that are sorely missed.
I do not have advice surgeries in the month of December but constituents can
get me at any time either by calling me on 07534 148224, or e-mailing me at
cllr.andy.doig@renfrewshire.gov.uk. My advice surgeries will resume in January
2019.
Article Submissions
The Advertizer
First of all, thank you very much to everyone who sends in their articles
for The Advertizer. Each month we have plenty to choose from and,
while we try to include as much as we can, some need to be cut back
due to space restrictions.
To make things easier for the little elves in the office, could we please
ask if articles are submitted as text within the email. Ideally, articles
should be no longer than 200 words, but we do appreciate that
sometimes it is necessary for more to get your message across and we
will accommodate if we can.
And if sending in photographs, please send these as separate
attachments to your email. If they are sent within a word
document, we are unable to extract these to the high quality
required for a good reproduction in print. These can be sent
as JPG or PDF files, and 300dpi resolution is
best, resized to within 8cm boundaries.
If in any doubt, please call or email the office
and the elves will be happy to advise you!
Thousands turn out for Paisley Christmas
Lights Switch-On
More than 27,000 people fl ocked to Paisley town centre to enjoy this years’
Christmas Lights spectacle.
Families enjoyed a full day of free fun, with Renfrewshire’s Provost Lorraine
Cameron carrying out the big switch on. She was helped by 11-year-old Skye
Thomson, from Paisley’s Heriot Primary School, who won the annual Christmas
card design competition.
Earlier in the day a glittering parade with hundreds of tinsel-clad youngsters and
Santa Claus and his reindeers wound its way through the town centre.
Many families got an early start on Christmas shopping with the town centre
shops open for business and The Urban Market at Paisley Abbey.
The main stage featured entertainment from Capital FM DJs Des Clarke, Steven
Mill and Garry Spence, with performances from family favourites Funbox, while
the Princesses of Pop paid tribute to the music of Ariana Grande and Little Mix.
X-Factor stars The Cutkelvins entertained the crowds just before the big Christmas
countdown.
