Lauren Daigle
Cynthia Diersen: I love this boho chic look. It says ‘girl next door’ with such simple and clean makeup.
The hair color is in trend. The ends could be a bit more polished but I love how casual this look is.
Hair: 8/Make-up: 7.8/Style: 7.5/Vote 7.8
Richy kandasamy: I love how Lauren embraces a contemporary vibe with her side braid.
Her warm, earthy hair colour complements her skin tone. The make-up is perfect - simple and clean.
Hair: 8 Make-up: 10/Style: 8/Vote 9.0
Charlie price: I’m a sucker for deep red haircolor - luscious waves and soft natural makeup always
work and coalesce perfectly with her image.
Hair: 9/Make-up: 9/Style: 9/Vote 9.0
DAVID BARRON: Lauren’s hair is effortless and versatile even for an everyday look. I would like to
add a few face-framing layers.
Iggy Azalea
Cynthia Diersen: This long, ultra-sleek look says “fierce warrior” and reflects her strength.
The makeup could distinguish skin and hair tones with more contouring; especially if you’re going
to be in front of bright lights!
Hair: 7.5/Make-up: 6.5/Style: 8.0/Vote 7.3
richy kandasamy: Iggy looks best with her hair pulled back and her make up is always on point.
Her hair color however should be a little bit less gold so it does not blend with her skin tone.
Hair: 7/Make-up: 10/Style: 7/Vote 8.0
charlie price: Slick uber-straight hair looks fresh and stylish to me right now. The tribal braid on
top of rock star “roots” and neutral make-up constitute a polished look perfect for this musical wild child.
Hair: 9/Make-up: 8/Style: 7/Vote 8.0
DAVID BARRON: I love the buttery blonde look and the long sleek look. She has the perfect face for
versatility. Make-up is very subtle which works best for evening make-up.
Hair: 9/Make-up: 8/Style: 7/Vote 8.0

Amara La Negra
Cynthia Diersen: I love how she embraces it and has fun with her natural texture! The ‘cut-out’ parting
in her style says “casual precision”! Retro makeup is perfect for this look! I love, love everything about this!
Hair: 9.0/Make-up: 8.9/Style: 9.8/Vote 9.2
Richy kandasamy: I love that Amara embraces her natural texture #mothernaturebeauty. The make-up
and accessories complement her personality well. Her take on the Afro look is super modern, fun and colorful.
Hair: 10/Make-up: 10/Style: 10/Vote 10+
charlie price: I always love an Afro - I’m so happy natural texture is back! The sexy makeup is
perfect for this ultra glam diva!
Hair: 10/Make-up: 10/Style: 10/Vote 10.0
DAVID BARRON: Hair, outfit, earrings go together all around! Big, Bold, Beautiful!!! I can not find
anything that I don’t like about her and her overall look. I give her a 10.
From NY
to Paris!
ECRU New York goes global with Fashion Week! Exclusively
sponsoring the Flying Solo SS19 fashion shows in NY & Paris.
ECRU New York has been creating hair and beauty looks for designers for over 15 years, and working with
Flying Solo for over four seasons now at New York Fashion Week, so it was a natural fit that as Flying Solo
decided to embark onto the Paris runway, the brand would follow to collaborate backstage. “For SS19, we
were seeing multiple textures and patterns together within the same garment, and so we took that idea
and incorporated it into the hair for both the New York and Paris runways, creating two different looks
with the same underlying theme,” says Lisa Lobosco, ECRU New York Creative Director.
Flying Solo NYFW
Flying Solo Paris FW
ParisIn
addition to producing beautiful hair for both shows, ECRU New York also provided the makeup
artistry for the New York show, creating a futuristic look centered around a metallic airbrushed mask.
“We are all about the total look! And not only is fashion week an important outlet for displaying our
artistry,” says Lobosco, “but also, we can then bring back education, the cornerstone of our brand,
through the ECRU New York Academy, to elevate the artistry of other stylists.”
Less glitz...
more glamour
Red carpets, fashion runways, bridal parties, proms and
other gala events all call for elegant hairstyling. Updos of
course, but not necessarily... there are other options!
Rocky Vitelli for CHI, Farouk Systems
We all love watching those red carpet events where gorgeous celebs sport over-the-top designer gowns and
glamorous coifs. Formal and bridal styling is also part of the hairdresser's art. But what is it that separates the
special occasion do from your everyday look? Pretty much everything! The most important thing to remember
is that healthy hair is beautiful hair - so even a simple sleek, hi-top or nape-of-neck pony tail can be elegant IF
hair is strong, smooth and shiny. Perfectly maintained color treatments (no regrowth), a fresh and modern cut,
texture maybe but NO FRIZZ. After all, these things don't happen over night, so make your plans, book your
consultation, try it out, tweak the details, and make the final appointment.

Men in the limelight
Wahl Education & Artistic Team member Shelley Craft
knows first-hand that bachelor and grooms’ parties are
seeking out haircuts, shaves, facials, massages, manicures
and pedicures offered by barber spas designed specifically
with men in mind. And since many parties are happening
the day of the wedding, the guys are getting straight into
their tux and taking their finished look down the aisle.
“The most common service guys request is the straight
razor shave. But sometimes they need a few suggestions
from our team because men are not used to this experience
being available,” says Craft. “It is important to make the
time special for them, just as you would for a woman. Men
have the same desire to be pampered, they just aren’t used
to asking for it and worry about being judged.”
Attitude counts!
Glam can be an
amped up natural
texture with
bold color or a
coif colored and
sculpted with a
sophisticated flair.
And remember that the most important ingredient in glam is self-confidence. So find a look that is
simply you at your best; something that makes you feel good about yourself. It needn't necessarily
be the most intricate updo you can find. It may be as simple as a adding the right color, highlights,
or texture to your everyday lob, boosting the volume and adding some sexy tendrils to your office
chignon, getting some Hollywood fingerwaves for your pixie, or long, loose curls on your lengths.
Then just make sure that your make-up is on point, your manicure is fresh, and - of course -
that your shoes are polished! Oh yes... and SMILE! You look just fabulous!
the top 3
For the first time in the history of Color Zoom - Goldwell’s
international hair competition - all three top prizes were
scooped by the same country AND the same salon! Gary kelly
The Goldwell 2018 Global Zoom event held in Toronto this Autumn is sure to have become a much talked-about
occasion in the small Dutch town of Apeldoorn - it takes the credit for a creative achievement unlikely to ever be
equalled; never say never, but for Color Zoom participants from the same salon to win all three categories: Creative
(Roos Topley), New Talent (Nushka Barbosa) and Partner (Lieke Nijenkamp) is an incredible result by anyone's
reckoning! The announcement of the Global Zoom competition winners was just one of the highlights over two days of
extraordinary shows, artist sessions and celebrations of creative excellence on the part of all participants at this year's
event. Also included was the world premiere of Goldwell’s 2019 Color Zoom Collection - REMIX, with the Color Zoom
Creative Team, which included the '17 Global winners, giving an insight into the inspiration behind the trend collection.
The Color Zoom Hall of Fame award is dedicated to recognising former Color Zoom winners who have used the competition
A new era of ultra-personalization
The evolution of Wella's ITVA also reflects the evolution of the brand, where
ultra-personalization plays a major role. "New consumers are personalization
obsessed – connecting the physical and digital experiences: it's our duty to capture
and build these experiences for them," said Sylvie Moreau, President of Coty
Professional Beauty. "It's all about the boom of the service experience – rather than
being afraid of the change, we need to fully embrace it: first, going back to what
made our industry successful, which is impeccable service where consultation is
the essence; and then beyond that, expressing those skills through digital means."
bob
a
And it’s come a long way since the 1960s... from its origins signed Vidal Sassoon until
today. The “average” length par excellence more than a hairstyle is a contemporary
status. Lending itself to myriad interpretations. From the Lob (long+bob) with shoulderlength
locks, to the Wob (wavy+bob), dedicated to those who love texture. For the
genetically elegant there is the Pob (posh+bob), but for everyone the bob represents
just one absolute: freedom. To interpret, play with an image. The bob is independence.
Dal Lob (long+bob),
Mil posibles matices. Dal Lob (long
+ bob), con largos a los hombros, al Wob (wavy + bob) movido. Para las genéticamente
elegantes llega el Pob (posh + bob) pero para todas, el carré representa una idea: ser
libres. Para interpretar, jugar con la imagen. Bob es independencia.

Preventing
hair loss
There are no miracle cures, but hair and scalp care and
prevention continue to be your best bet when it comes to
keeping hair loss at bay. Savvy styling tips can also help.
90 dossier
Thinning hair and hair loss are perhaps more noticeable in men, but statistics indicate that about
one-third of women experience hair loss (alopecia) at some time in their lives, while among postmenopausal
women, as many as two-thirds suffer thinning or bald spots.* The impact can be devastating
for both genders. Today, depending on the actual cause, some medical interventions may help,
but professional hair care brands are targeting prevention with products that help to keep the scalp
healthy and strengthen hair. Specific styling products for both fine and thinning hair together with
invaluable styling tips can boost both volume and self-confidence, keeping hair looking better longer.

care for the foundation of healthy hair and
scalp. It exfoliates, nourishes and revitalizes
the scalp keeping it in optimum condition
to promote fuller, denser-looking hair.

technology for thicker, fuller and healthier hair.
Eufora's proprietary technology, ProAmino Cell
Complex, works to revitalize the health of the hair
follicle and scalp and improve strength and elasticity.
Unite
The ultimate shampoo and conditioner for
healing and repairing hair, with pure argan
oil, organic Hawaiian white honey and
crushed pearl powder. The rich and creamy
U LUXURY line will replenish and lock in
nutrients your hair loses each day, adding
voluminous body and exquisite shine. The
conditioner also helps protect hair during
heat styling.

Wahl Education & Artistic Team member Shelley Craft of The Men’s Refinery BarberSpa in South
Carolina, advises, “For fine, thinning hair or for the older gentleman, skip the pompadour look, as it
will flop early. I personally like to blow the hair dry without a product and then finish with a grooming
cream.” Allen Ruiz, Aveda Artistic Director Of Hair Styling, says, “I always tell people with thinning hair
that the longer you let your hair air dry in a towel, the worse off you’ll be. Thinning hair dries super-fast
and if you’re seeking volume or fullness, you need to build it into the hair before it has a chance to
dry flat.” He continues, “Use medium heat and a low air speed, then start drying at the roots before
moving onto the mid-shafts and ends. I tend to use a round, natural-bristle brush and I work in small
sections—lifting them up while drying the roots—for maximum control.”
More than 18
spectacular shows
kept this 2018 edition
as exciting as ever.
MCB by BS
More than 50,000 visitors turned up in Paris, Porte de
Versailles, in mid-September, to discover everything the
2018 edition of MCB by Beauté Sélection had to offer.
280 exhibitors and leading players from the world of coiffure and beauty once again proved the dynamism of this sector.
First of all, when it comes to colouring, with unprecedented growth in the offering of products and services, it is not
possible to meet the needs of a increasing range of clients. Another high-profile trend in this edition was “green”, as many
brands have made ecological products a priority in their colouring, treatment, and styling lines.
And the world of men’s grooming, which continues to thrive with new brands, confirms the positive impact of the success
of men’s salons. Barbering tools, men’s hairstyles, mature hair, beard extensions, etc. were all in great demand by visitors.
Even the artistic and creative aspect was perfectly represented with eighteen extraordinary shows on the main stage.
Contemporaneously, the workshow were just as attractive, with proposals that succeeded in brings a hi-tech vision and
a more wearable approach to trends.
Not to mention the two competitions organised by Estetica France, now a tradition at this fair, with “The Mentor,
Best Emerging Talent”, which awarded the young French hairdresser Laurent Micas and, of course, “What's up in Paris”
dedicated to the universe of hair salon design. In this category the German salon Scissorys Friseure nabbed the award.

Hair teams from across the globe once more committed their own time and resources to creating a show which was an
amazing celebration of the artistry, creativity and passion. Without their generosity and commitment, this incredible
event would quite simply not exist. Importantly Alternative Hair is, of course, also about raising much-needed funds for
Fighting Leukaemia. During the evening head trustees of Fighting Leukaemia, Douglas Osborne, Professor Tariq Enver
and Dr Jason De Boeur thanked the audience for their support and told them of the some of the great research being
carried out with positive results. A film of this year’s Children’s Party, opened the charity appeal which was made by
Alternative Hair Host, Linda Evans and 9 year old Blue Tobin (centre left) who is celebrating 6 years free of blood cancer.
brand and product presence in the
Asian beauty and wellness market.
“For the upcoming edition of
BeautyAsia, we see encouraging
support from foreign exhibitors, as
well as returning exhibitors from
countries such as China, Italy,
Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan,
Thailand and many more,” said
Gillian Loh, Project Manager of
Lines Exhibition. For many years,
BeautyAsia has been a trusted
platform for global businesses to
convene and showcase innovative
products, as well as gain
opportunities with stakeholders
expanding beyond Asia. We are
excited to see newly minted
partnerships and business
collaborations at next year’s
BeautyAsia, given that Asia’s beauty
and wellness market is evergrowing
and the rapid development
of technology brings new
possibilities in the market.”
BeautyAsia is an
annual trade show
that incorporates
four distinct shows:
BeautyAsia,
SpaAsia, HealthAsia
and NaturalAsia.
