Why we think this trend is going to work ? Alcohol is part of our culture and society in Europe, a glass of wine, a pint of beer or a cocktail during your girl’s night out…Who never had any of these? And if consumed moderately, alcohol doesn’t necessarily have bad consequences. But here is the thing, alcohol can cause addiction quite easily and that’s when it becomes a problem. It has an impact on other humans being. Your family when they see your behaviour changing every time you start drinking. Innocent people who perish in car accidents because a drunk person was driving when he/she shouldn’t have. You having a cancer, developing cirrhosis or any kind of disease directly related to your alcohol consumption. All these things also have an impact on economy, car and damage insurance, healthcare…at the end of the day we all pay for certain people’s excess. That being said, we also have a 40% average of the world population that doesn’t drink alcohol and for various reasons. And there they come, with non-alcoholic beverages that everyone could drink. You know it feels like most people who really like alcohol would be reluctant to reduce or stop consuming alcohol if only for the taste. But we have you covered, Seedlip for example developed drinks that are also distilled which means you get a taste as close from alcohol as it can be. Everything leads to believe that other brands will pay a very close interest to the development of non-alcoholic drinks because it is a constantly growing market. One of the main reason it might work, is the interest of people for healthier lifestyle and habits. Cutting off alcohol or at least reducing their consumption is in the mind of a lot of people but they don’t act on it because they really like it and so far weren’t provided with any alternative. But now that they have options, they will most likely give it a try and that’s how habits start to change. Now if we also include in our potential market both Islamic believers, minors and pregnant women, we get quite a large amount of potential customers. Add the fact that you can still have a night out having fun and then drive your way back home without worrying because you drank too much. There are many advantages to non-alcoholic drinks, especially now that you can get the same experience in terms of taste but at a lesser cost and not at the expand of your health and cognizance. This is why we redactors at Cosmo, believe in this trend. Of course we are not saying everyone should completely stop drinking alcohol but we believe that people can massively cut on their consumption especially on heavy alcohol as well as reduce binge-drinking. A part of creating this magazine was the opportunity to try a lot of non-alcoholic drinks to know more about it. That was really nice for us because we don't have the same profile at all when it comes to drinking. Indeed Marianne and Leo really like alcoholic drinks whereas Kim is intolerant to any kind of alcohol which means she doesn't have the same experience they do when it comes to drinking and having a night out in general. What was really interesting was to see how both Marianne and Leo would feel about their first non alcoholic cocktails. Right now, the trend is only beginning so in most bars you have around 3 to 4 options for mocktails when you have several dozens for regular cocktails. Our investigations showed us that this trend has a lot of potential but needs to be further developed in order for people to have options. Because right now people who can't drink alcohol don't have so many options whoch might be one of the reason people arent willing to give it a try just like that. Look at the pictures!
