n Pet rescue needs new home<br />
With more than 500 dogs successfully<br />
rescued in the past three years since<br />
its opening, Polka Dogz Pet Rescue of<br />
Central Florida is looking to expand<br />
from its current Winter Garden facility<br />
to a new home. Representatives<br />
of the rescue are asking for the community’s<br />
support through adopting,<br />
fostering, volunteering or donating<br />
to help make this dream a reality.<br />
Polka Dogz Pet Rescue has been in<br />
a temporary facility for three years.<br />
After so many dogs coming through<br />
its doors, it’s breaking down.<br />
“We now desperately need to find<br />
a real home with a safe structure that<br />
we won’t have to evacuate every time<br />
there is a major storm,” said Aaron<br />
Stein of Polka Dogz. “We really<br />
need a home where we can have a<br />
large fenced-in yard for our dogs to<br />
run and play. Our current, temporary<br />
home won’t hold out much longer.”<br />
The rescue is hoping to relocate somewhere<br />
in Winter Garden, Clermont,<br />
west Orange or East Lake. For more<br />

n New private college opens<br />
in Orlando<br />
Officials of Rasmussen College,<br />
a regionally accredited private college,<br />
announced the opening of<br />
a new state-of-the-art campus in<br />
Orlando. Enrollment is open, and<br />
classes begin next month.<br />
The new campus includes classrooms,<br />
a computer lab, student learning<br />
and collaboration spaces, as well<br />
as simulation equipment in the campus’<br />
four labs for health sciences and<br />
future nursing students. The school<br />
is open to students and community<br />
members who are interested in earning<br />
a flexible, affordable degree at<br />
Rasmussen College. Local business<br />
and community organizations may<br />
also use the college for meeting space<br />
at no charge when available.<br />
