we look forward to seeing you on the evening.
As usual, it tales resources to manage the
Super Fun Run, so if you can offer some help,
either before , or on the day, we would be very
appreciative, and/or if you are a local business
and would like to provide sponsorship towards
the event then please contact me. Thanks to all
the committee members who have given
tirelessly of their time over the past year,

Sports & Social Club
P&TGSSC was
delighted to host our
annual Fireworks
display which was
well attended.
The music this
year was ABBA
inspired, and a
brilliant set was put
together by Chris Sadler
whom we thank very much, which
accompanied a spectacular show of fireworks
perfectly.
We are delighted again to host the Fun Run
Charity cheque presentation after The Carols on
the Common (20th December) mulled wine,
along with the well-stocked bar, will be served.
As always all the Christmas football fixtures
will be shown live on our big screens be it on
Sky or BT.
Finally we all at The Sports and Social Club
wish all Village Voice readers a Happy
Christmas and a Peaceful New Year, we thank

In Memory: Harold Baker
I would like to say
thank you to my lovely
neighbours in Rays
Lane, for their support
in recent times, to
Penn Surgery, to all my
friends in the village,
and to my two sons
Martin and Steve, after
my dear husband Harold, peacefully passed
away on 2 October.
He lost his sight 18 years ago, which was
tragic as he was a craftsman in carpentry and
joinery, and our cottage is a testament to his
work.
He loved nothing more than to chat to
people who stopped to admire our cottage
garden, especially in the spring or summer with
the roses or wisteria out. We have lived in our
cottage in Rays Lane since the winter of 1962 (a
very cold one)
I hope to take part next summer in "Open
Gardens' again in memory of Harold.

CWPC Update
We finally we have a decision on Unitary for
Buckinghamshire. It might not be exactly what
many people wanted but those who preferred
the two unitary option should be pleased that
what the Secretary of State James Brokenshire
announced is a single unitary District Council.
What this means is that instead of the County
Council remaining as an authority and
consuming the Districts into it, all 5 Councils
will be abolished on 31st March 2020 and a new
council will be set up to come into force on 1st
April 2020. The Councils will all have to work
together to set up this new authority, so the
Districts will have at least as big a role to play in
this as the County in shaping the new authority
and how it will work.
It is a very short timescale and there will be
an enormous amount of work to be done and
many details are not yet known but will become
clearer over the coming weeks.
How will this affect Parish Councils? Well as
