“Beyond the
Dressing Room”
It's the time of the year that we all sit and reflect about the importance
and achievements in the last year, I'm writing this article on New Year’s
Eve when I am preparing for another new year with the Darlo family a
busy but enjoyable highlight of the club’s calendar.
There are a few dates that every year we know will be corkers and that
stand us apart from other clubs in the area, events like our pantomime,
Halloween and new year are dates not to be missed.
Lots of things make our little club superb, some may say a cut above the
rest and it's important at this time of year to bring some of them to
everyone's attention. We have a huge backroom staff a wonderful willing
team of volunteers who work so hard for the good reputation of the
club, striving hard to pull off everything we do. Some of the roles are
obvious like keeping the pitch in good order, laundering the kit, a ready,
replenished bar, our Sunday morning 7am clean-up crew. The gang that
look after the gate every home game, selling programmes and looking
after all the spectators. The hours put into the team by the manager and
coaching staff. The players of course both youth and first team. The
photographers who spend hours on end after games publishing the great
photos they take (we are so so lucky to have all of you)
There is the entertainment committee who pull off comedy nights,
tribute acts, fundraisers and just keep the club ticking for all the private
hires we are fortunate to take.
We have our amazing directors who make sound business decisions. Our
local councillors who are on board and work so hard come rain and shine
and ensure we are part of the bigger community aspect. We have our
treasurer who works hard to keep the accounts in good order and a heap
of other jobs in between.
We more than stand out alone because of not only the skill set of those
who carry out all these roles, every single person does it for the love of
the club and their friends. No payments made for any task that anyone
completes on behalf of or for the club. It's hard graft of
