Darlaston Town (1874) 6 Wellington Amateurs 0
West Midlands (Regional) League Division One
Saturday 15th December 2018
With several games postponed due to the poor weather conditions Darlaston
returned to the top of the West Midlands Regional League Division One with
their biggest win of the
season an emphatic 6-0 win
against Wellington Amateurs.
Before the game members of
Darlaston Town's Under 12s
team presented a cheque for
£200 to local fundraiser Geoff
Johnson and Royal British
Legion Poppy Appeal Regional
Organiser Alison Bates as a
donation for the money stolen
during a recent break in at the
club where monies scheduled
for the appeal were stolen.
The donation was supported by funds donated by the club, local donors and
opponents Wellington Amateurs.
In the wind, rain and freezing conditions 74 hardy souls saw their side adapt
to the conditions
immediately by taking a
first minute lead. An Alex
Solomon shot was parried
by keeper Scott Hoof,
Leon Taylor was first to
respond, he beat a
defender before drilling
home from 6 yards.
With the visitors in
disarray Darlaston missed
several early chances to
double their lead. Noah
Diallo had two efforts
saved by Hoof and Isaac
Cooper cut in from the
left drove the ball across the face of goal and eluded by inches the
unmarked Alex Solomon at the back post. Wellington responded
with long range efforts from Steve Faux and Jake Challenor.
