2) Having put on the breastplate of righteousness. Isaiah 59:17 For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, And a helmet of salvation on His head; He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, And was clad with zeal as a cloak. So you see here, we are to put on righteousness as a breastplate. Jesus is our righteousness. He is the one who is guarding our heart. One day the Holy Spirit told me that you could never wear the breastplate of righteousness if you say you have a sin nature. You can't wear righteousness and sin nature at the same time. You get to choose which one you want to wear. Jesus became our Righteousness as it is written, But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption 1 Corinthians 1:30 3) And having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Isaiah 11:10 And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious. Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Nahum 1:15 Behold, on the mountains The feet of him who brings good tidings, Who proclaims peace! O Judah, keep your appointed feasts, Perform your vows. For the wicked one shall no more pass through you; He is utterly cut off. Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound. Again here this is Jesus who is the gospel of peace. As it is written For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace Isaiah 9:6 4) Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Psalm 5:12 For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield. Remember our faith is to be in Jesus and that strength of faith in Him is your shield. Jesus is or shield as our faith is to be in Him. Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 5) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. The helmet of salvation was mentioned back when the breastplate of righteousness was discussed. Jesus is our salvation and that's why we wear it as a helmet to guide our thoughts. Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Isaiah 11:4 But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked. Isaiah 49:2 And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword; In the shadow of His hand He has hidden Me, And made Me a polished shaft; In His quiver He has hidden Me. Hosea 6:5 Therefore I have hewn them by the prophets, I have slain them by the words of My mouth; And your judgments are like light that goes forth. Jesus is the Word made flesh John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. It's His words that separate like it's mentioned in Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The three men and Stephen all faced death and yet trusted God. As we go through our own trials and tribulations in this life, it is evident that we are to be strong in the Lord. Our power comes from our strength in Jesus and this is why we are to put on the full armour of God, which is Jesus Himself, the armour of light.... And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Romans 13:11-12 42
