Hi & welcome. For this Newsletter we decided to devote almost the entire edition to technology
and our service department as there’s never been so much news to tell you about. Almost all of it is
driven by technology changes, designed to make driving a Škoda more convenient & efficient.
Škoda is set to launch three new models this year here in the UK, the Scala, Kamiq & Citigo BEV
plus a number of extra trims including Kodiaq vRS, Octavia Sportline, Octavia SE Drive & Octavia
vRS Challenge as well as committing to Superb hybrid & the all electric Vision E next year.
As Škoda grows each year so does our team. Over the last 12 months both our Sales & Service
teams have recruited additional members to deal with demand & the complexities that come with
greater volumes. This week we welcome Bradley Tye, our third new starter this year, who is our
first Trainee Sales Executive.
Our Service department, led by Chris Harrison, has recently embraced a plethora of advancements
and technology. We have installed a new Service reminder system bringing greater personalization
and accuracy to service dates. We now offer Service Plans and have a system to quote tailored
monthly costings for servicing & MOT’s. Citnow will text you a link to a video of our Technician
explaining a fault on your vehicle and explaining the repair required. In November we won the
contract to service & maintain over 100 Cleveland Police cars of all makes & models.
Again this year we are supporting Teesside Hospice through our fundraising and your donations,
from using our unique courtesy car policy, where providing you have a valid Privilege Card, we
provide you a courtesy car FOC in return for a small donation.

This makes it quick & simple to understand what’s required,
breaking down confusing jargon and allowing you to make more
informed decisions. It’s vital that we have your correct mobile
number on the day of your visit for this technology to work.

SERVICE NOTIFICATION CHANGES
Historically we sent you service reminders by post, this is
changing.
We have introduced a new customer notification system that
due to technology advances is sophisticated enough to use your
vehicle registration number to look at your specific vehicle historic
data such as age and mileage to predict future events like service
& MOT dates, our old system was a one size fits all approach.
Additionally, the new system is clever enough to use your chassis
number to identify if your vehicle has a cam belt (opposed to
a timing chain) and predict when it needs changing. It can also
identify if you have an automatic transmission and therefore the
date the gearbox oil change is required or likewise if you have a
four wheel drive and need the Haldex oil changing.
Moving forward we will contact you in this order;
1. email which will look like the one illustrated here which will
have a subject line something like: ‘Your service is due - let’s get
it sorted’. It will be from Škoda no-reply@skoda.co.uk.
2. Text. If you don’t respond to the email, your next notification
will be by text which will look like the one illustrated here.
3. Post. If you don’t respond to the first two methods of contact,
we will send you a reminder in the post. We leave this as a last
resort to minimise environmental impact.
Don’t worry if you don't have an email address. We
appreciate that some customers are at different levels
of ability using technology to others (we certainly are
here amongst our team) but technology isn’t going
away & affects our lives more each day, if you would
like help arranging an email account or how to find e
mails in spam or junk or enabling content then simply

EMERGENCY SERVICE
Derek Slack Motors has enjoyed a strong
relationship with the area's emergency
services for over 20 years.
Last July, we supplied Cleveland Fire Brigade
with 14 new Octavia Scout Estate Cars and they
were so pleased with them, the brigade have
ordered another 5 this year already.
Karen Winter, from Cleveland Fire Brigade said,
“This deal has allowed us to standardise our
fleet and provide vital vehicles to our Flexible
Duty Officers, so they are able to respond to
incidents quickly and safely and in all types of
conditions, as these cars have 4x4 ability. It is
very important to Cleveland Fire Brigade that
we work with local businesses and ensure that
we are getting value for money. This addition to
our fleet allows us to continue supporting safer,
stronger communities across Cleveland.”
Derek Slack Motors have been awarded the
Cleveland Police maintenance contract for
Middlesbrough. Tony Slack said in December:
“We are delighted to have won the contract
and really look forward to repairing the vehicles
and keeping them on the roads to support
the local community. Winning this contract
will mean additional staff appointments. We
support apprentices and currently have a local
apprentice training to be a technician.”
Barry Coppinger, Cleveland’s Police and Crime
Commissioner, said: “We’re looking forward to
working with excellent local suppliers. Police
vehicles have to be on the road every day of the
year and the contract allows us to work with
garages who can provide fast, priority service.”

3 NEW ŠKODA MODELS
The name for Škoda’s new small SUV has
now been officially revealed, the KAMIQ,
Inuit for something that fits as perfectly as a
second skin in every situation.
The KAMIQ is an urban crossover model, a
compact and lifestyle-oriented entry-level
vehicle, combining the agility and handling
of a compact car with the traditional
advantages of an SUV - higher seating
position, better visibility, easier to get in
and out, and higher ground clearance. The
KAMIQ features a new interior concept,
complete with large freestanding touch
screen media panel. The optional virtual
cockpit features one of the largest displays
in the segment at 10.25 inches. The KAMIQ
offers generous interior space and plenty
of legroom for rear passengers thanks to
the 2,651-millimetre wheelbase. The boot
volume is 400 litres, increasing to 1,395 litres
with the rear seat backrests folded down.
The world premiere of the new Škoda
KAMIQ takes place at the Geneva Motor
Show between 5 and 17 March 2019.
Škoda will produce battery-electric vehicles
from 2020, and will soon focus entirely on
electric mobility with the most extensive
investment program in its history.
Production of the CITIGO battery electric
vehicle (BEV), the brand’s first all-electric
model, will start in 2019. In the same year,
the SUPERB plug-in hybrid electric vehicle
(PHEV), Škoda’s first plug-in hybrid model,
will be running off the assembly line.
Production of the VISION E, our purely
electric model will follow in 2020.
By 2025 Škoda will have a total of 10
electrified models on the market and
will invest around two billion euros into
electromobility and new
mobile services.
The SCALA completely redefines the
compact car segment for ŠKODA.
The hatchback combines an emotive
design with a high level of functionality
as well as state-of-the-art connectivity.
In addition, the SCALA offers a high level of
active and passive safety, full-LED headlights
and tail lights, plenty of space for luggage
and passengers, as well as numerous
Simply Clever features. It will be launched
onto the market in the first half of 2019.
