The Masseria Azzurra winery, owned by the
De Corato family, was founded by Sebastiano
De Corato in the late 1940s. Today, his
grandsons farm 75 hectares of estate
vineyards planted at high density. Their 2017
Negroamaro is vibrant in colour with ripe
fruits, plums and violet aromas. It is soft with
sweet succulent fruit flavours, bitter cherry
and a jammy finish. Negroamaro is planted
on calcareous soils in the Salento peninsula
at 50 to 80 metres.
Bright ruby in colour, the
Primitivo has a floral and
cherry aroma with a slight
hint of leather, giving a
savoury edge to the wine.
It is supple and rich with
more succulent sweet
dark fruits on the palate.
Grapes were harvested at
the end of August and fermented in tank with
skin maceration for a week.
