Garry, now that he knew that Stan and Yasmin
had been orchestrating his love life for at least
the last five years, slipped out of his room
quietly while trying not to wake up the
barmaid. He carefully closed the front door of
the house, which would have otherwise shut
with a deafening thud that always rattled
through the whole building. The street outside
was quiet, with only pigeons fluttering around
on the other side, pecking at each other, and
squawking over the multiple pieces of the
detritus that laid in the gutter. The weather
was mild, but Garry had put his black jacket on
as the accessible pockets it provided were
