these metals were not particularly rare, they
were just very difficult to separate from each
other so there uses were only discovered much
later than other elements like iron, carbon,
copper and the other chemicals. The problems
with these, at least when they became more
and more important in the world’s economy,
was that there mining was extremely
destructive to the environment and the sources
of where they could be extracted from were
limited and this created conflict between
nations. Hence, when the Greens came in
power in Britain, they had banned the use of all
import trade of all these rare earth metals that
had not been mined in the British Isles and this
had dramatically reduced the UK’s energy
