Delray Under $50
Now that Delray Beach is a rising star in the art, culture and social scene,
it might seem a little difficult to find affordable activities, shops or
restaurants. I am here to prove you wrong. Delray Beach
offers a mix of high-end boutiques with laid-back
restaurants, and events for the whole family or
nightclubs for night owls. Here is what you can do
in Delray Beach in March for $50 or less.
When I see food, I eat it. When I see wine, I drink it. March
is National Nutrition Month and is a great time to get
back to what matters: seafood and wine, and their many
health benefits, naturally. The Delray Beach Wine & Seafood Festival
is back by popular demand and offers guests weekend culinary
extravaganza. Not only will you be privy to a diverse menu of delicious
seafood including lobster rolls, creole platters, conch ceviche
and much more, you’ll also be able to enjoy wines from Amarone to
Zinfandel. As if that’s not enough, there are also 100 exhibitors featuring
arts and crafts, live music, a wine garden and craft beer area,
and wine and food pairing seminars from top chefs from local restaurants
and vintners from internationally renowned wineries. Admission
is free but if you feel like shelling out a little cash, opt for a
ticket to The Wine Down Garden. For $50 you’re able to wine down
in a new intimate space featuring a luxurious garden area with 20
wines to sample from old and new world wines from around the
world, with unlimited sampling for two hours. The Delray Beach
Wine & Seafood Festival is held Saturday, March 9 from 11am to
11pm and Sunday, March 10 from 11am to 6pm at the Old School
Square Pavilion Grounds, 51 N. Swinton Ave. Visit www.wineandseafoodfest.com
for additional information, a detailed outline of
the schedule, and to purchase seminar tickets.
Let’s get crafty! March is National Craft Month and if you need a
little inspiration before dusting off that old jar of Mod Podge,
you’re in luck. The good people at Arts Warehouse are hosting
a Green ARTery, which is a pop-up plant, flower and arts/maker
sale, activities and event. You are invited to swing by and check out
one-of-a-kind plant and flower inspired wares including food and
beverage, clothing, household wares, art work, living plants and
flowers, and more. You and your imagination are encouraged to
run wild and mix with local art makers and shakers so you can get
some inspiration for your own art project, or to find a piece for your
home or office or cloffice (closet-office because apparently now
that’s a thing). You are also able to check out the Artist in Resident
Studios and the current Arts Warehouse Exhibition too, so you have
a great opportunity to fully immerse yourself in all that the Warehouse
has to offer. This free event is held Saturday, March 23 from
10am to 3pm and you can expect to enjoy music, bites and sips. The
Arts Warehouse is located at 313 NE Third St. Visit www.artswarehouse.org
or call (561) 330-9614 for more information.
Go green or go home! The St. Patrick’s Day Parade
is back again this year for two fun-filled days of
celebrations so by the time St. Patrick’s
Day rolls around on Sunday, March 17, you’ll be
ready to relax and kick back with some corned
beef and cabbage
and a Guinness.
The event begins
on Friday,
March 15 with
the free Friday
Night Parade Pre-
Party from 5 to
10pm. Held at the
Delray Beach Tennis
Center, enjoy live music,
cold drinks and lots
of food trucks with a few
hundred of your local neighbors.
But, make sure you’re
ready for Saturday, March
16 because the Parade is
the highlight of the event.
There will be live music,
entertainment, games, vendors
and more at the Tennis
Center from 10am to 5pm, but
make sure to have a good spot
along the Avenue because the
parade starts at 2pm. The parade
proudly features local nonprofit
organizations, businesses,
schools, civic organizations, veterans,
police, firefighters and EMS
from all across the nation and
even as far as Australia, Belgium,
