By Ola Ajayi
I CANDIDATE B A D A N —
of
the All Progressives
Congress, APC, in Oyo
State, Chief Adebayo
Adelabu said that he was
displaced by the conspiracy
and coalition of five other
He noted that the results
of the March 9 election “still
keep our supporters
He said this while
speaking with newsmen
after his return from a twoweek
Adelabu, a former Deputy
Governor of Central Bank
of Nigeria said the election
his party to approach the
He described his loss as
a blessing in disguise.
He said: “Whatever
happens to a man is either
By Evelyn Usman
L Nigerian AGOS—THE
an operation code-named
Junction Rain , with a view
to enforcing maritime laws
and checkmating excesses
of pirates and other
criminalities in the nation’s
waters and the Gulf of
Guinea corridor.
The one-week operation
which was conducted 50
nautical miles off the Lagos
shore, resulted in the arrest
of two vessels , with 20 crew
members.
Addressing journalists at
the end of the exercise,
yesterday, at the Naval
Dockyard, Victoria Island,
the Fleet Commander,
Western Fleet/Officer in
Prohibition Act, 2011 as
amended and punishable
under Section 15 (3) of the
same Act”.
A source close to the
of history and posterity.”
“The devil is in the details
like they say, as a first
timer, with 357,000 genuine
votes, we remained the
single strongest candidate
arraignment of the
claimed to be displaced by
the conspiracy or coalition
of five other guber
candidates.”
“This also gave out our
party as the single strongest
and most popular party in
the last elections.
•Interrogates 100 ships
interrogated during the
operation, out of which 40
of them were boarded. In
the process, two of them
were arrested.
He said the operation,
organized by the United
States of America, included
relevant maritime agencies
for the first time to combat
the scourge on the nation’s
water.
Describing the operation
as huge success, he stated
that it had helped to keep
the nation’s sea line open for
normal commercial
shipping to take place.
He disclosed that while
the operation lasted, some
of the sea robbers were
forced to flee to South Africa
and Garbon, to evade arrest.
The operation, he stated
further established synergy
between the navy and
participating maritime
agents, adding that vessels
that were boarded during
the operation was enhanced
through information by
sister agencies.
He therefore, warned
criminals to keep off the
nation’s water, saying, “ For
criminals at sea, this is the
time to realize that it is not
time for them to operate.
Some of them even left
Nigerian territorial water .
There were some vessels we
actually went out to pick
but we found out that most
of the vessels were already
in South Africa, Garbon and
other places. For the fact
that we have denied them
the use of the sea for this
number of days, goes to
show that it is no longer
business as usual for them.
“So, we are using this
opportunity to warn all
criminals at sea that this
operation has not ended. It
is still ongoing.
