O’Dowd Alumni
PRE-SHOW
RECEPTION
The second annual O’Dowd Alumni Pre-Show
Reception was held on Friday, May 5. More than 90
attendees enjoyed the reception before attending the
Drama Department’s production of Legally Blonde.
Rachel Chiappetta ’08 and Dennis Kohles ’69.
Several alumni had special ties to the theater, including
Rachael Chiappetta ’08, who starred in several
productions during her O’Dowd years, including
Ragtime, Hair and You Can’t Take It With You.
Others were excited to see their children in the performance,
while some simply wanted to enjoy a night
at the theater with fellow alums.
Special thanks to Drama Director Dennis Kohles ’69
for providing complimentary tickets for the O’Dowd
alums, and well-deserved kudos to all the talented
students in the musical.
Alumni Reflections
from the Alumni Survey
“I can see looking back now that the privilege of
attending O’Dowd molded the foundation of my
future success. Without a doubt - even more than
college. The experience taught me how to discipline
myself and achieve anything I desired. And that is
priceless!”
“When I talk about my experience at O’Dowd to others
that are not familiar with the school, my description
is often met with surprise. O’Dowd is not the
typical Catholic school. It is very diverse, welcoming
of other religions and philosophies, and progressive.
I believe that O’Dowd strikes the perfect balance
between modeling and promoting a Catholic life
and also being open, accepting, and even encouraging
of other beliefs and lifestyles. This openness
and support is central to creating a safe, nurturing
environment in which teens can learn and develop as
individuals and members of society.”
