Missing 74-year-old<br />

found on roof<br />

MARIA HEREDIA TORRES had been missing for two days before<br />

she was found of the roof of a housing block in Malaga City.<br />

She suffers from severe Alzheimer’s and it is thought she became<br />

disorientated and ma<strong>de</strong> her way up onto the roof where she<br />

fell and couldn’t get back up again.<br />

She is now recovering at home with her family after the or<strong>de</strong>al.<br />

Tourists warned to<br />

‘check their change’<br />

THE Guardia Civil has reissued<br />

a notice to tourists to<br />

keep a look out for Egyptian<br />

and Mexican currency working<br />

its way into Spanish circulation.<br />

The Mexican Five Peso<br />

coin and the Egyptian Pound<br />

coin are very similar to the<br />

Two <strong>Euro</strong> coin and on first<br />

look the difference would go<br />

unnoticed.<br />

However the number of<br />

‘foreign’ coins making their<br />

way into circulation at the<br />

country’s tourist hotspots has<br />

increased over the past week<br />

according to officials.<br />

Tourists are being asked to<br />

inspect their change when<br />

purchasing items to make sure<br />

they don’t receive one of the<br />

coins unintentionally.<br />

The Mexican Peso is only<br />

worth <strong>24</strong> cents whereas the<br />

Egyptian Pound coin is only<br />

worth five cents.<br />

A COURT in Sevilla which specialises<br />

in cases of violence against women reman<strong>de</strong>d<br />

in custody a 20-year-old male<br />

for allegedly attacking his 15-year-old<br />

girl friend.<br />

Officers from the National Police and<br />

emergency services were called to a<br />

street in the city after a man was seen to<br />

smash a girl’s head against a shop window,<br />

breaking the glass.<br />

Whilst paramedics atten<strong>de</strong>d to the girl,<br />

the officers chased a suspect through the<br />

streets until they caught him.<br />

The girl who suffered serious injuries<br />

to her head and shoul<strong>de</strong>r including a<br />

broken nose is reported to have said that<br />

she had known the man for two years<br />

and had gone out with him, but that<br />

night he had seen her with friends and<br />

attacked her.<br />

Although there is no prior history of<br />

arrest for violence, the court <strong>de</strong>ci<strong>de</strong>d after<br />

interviewing witnesses that the alleged<br />

assault was so serious that the<br />

young man, whose family come from<br />

the Dominican Republic, would be held<br />

without bail until the trial.
