Collaboration on culture
A ROBBERY from a business in Olula del
Rio turned out to be a family affair.
The investigation into the theft of two
SUPPORT: The Almeria Council president said the provincial administration supports projects

THE Olula del Rio City of Culture
museum project is set to
go ahead imminently thanks to
an agreement between the
provincial government and the
Fundacion de Arte Ibañez Consentino.
Almeria Council has agreed
to contribute €250,000 to the
construction of the 1,400sqm
building. On the ground floor
there will be an extension to
the centre dedicated to the photographer
Carlos Perez Siquier
and a cafe, and on the upper
floor there will be a new exhibition
area for Almerian art.
Speaking at the formal signing
of the agreement, Almeria
Council President Javier A
Garcia commented, “We want
to recognise the work of all
those who are making it possible
for Almerians to feel proud
of having a museum of these
characteristics in our
province.”
Garcia said it was not just infrastructure
and services which
make a province, but also culture.
The Almeria government
supports projects of this kind,
he added, because “they create
wealth and employment and
highlight the importance of the
cultural and artistic talent of
our province.”

Robbery family affair
said the support of the provincial
administration and a locally
based multinational “gives
us the necessary oxygen to carry
on breathing.”
He also explained the museum
building is the final piece
of the City of Culture project.
TVs valued at €448 earlier this month led
to the arrest of 58-year-old AMMR and his
39-year-old nephew INM, both Olula locals.
The two are suspected of putting the
TVs in a trolley and walking out without
paying for them.
