calm and subdued surroundings, where<br />
warm wood refectory tables and muted grey<br />
bucket chairs are aligned with precision.<br />
The chandelier above the escalators is<br />
phenomenal; numerous, large, illuminated<br />
rings are suspended at varying heights<br />
over the stairwell creating yet another<br />
powerful aerial feature in this tremendous<br />
interior. The wall beside the escalators<br />
is equally striking covered in massive,<br />
monochromatic, blue and white brand<br />
related graphic imagery.<br />
The interior combines ergonomic curves<br />
and circular sweeps with angular fi xtures<br />
and fi ttings, creating a natural symbiosis<br />
that transports this store from a traditional<br />
book retailer to a modern, inviting store<br />
that encourages dwell time. The fl oor as<br />
well as the fi xtures and fi ttings are neutral<br />
toned wood veneer that allows the books<br />
and other merchandise to stand out on the<br />
shelves. The cash desks are formal<br />
and fi nished in a darker wood veneer –<br />
a row of branded bags are showcased<br />
along the front. Naturally, digital screens<br />
are included instore, positioned on the<br />
perimeter walls and behind the cash desks<br />
for both education and navigation.<br />
There’s even a self serve booth on the<br />
exterior for collecting books ordered and<br />
paid for online.<br />
This store has it all and from outside<br />
its enormous glass shop front allows<br />
views across the entire two storey outlet<br />
encouraging customers into the shop<br />
amidst a relaxed and soothing ambiance –<br />
essential in today’s climate. It’s all about<br />
experience and Thalia has it by the bucket<br />
load. If you happen to be on the continent<br />
