Police appeal for information OWL Cymru 19100444878—Burglary in Connahs Quay—Please be vigilant Police are appealing for information and urging residents to be vigilant following a burglary in the Mold Road area of Connahs Quay. The incident occurred at around 0100 hrs on 11th August. The offender appears to have entered through an open window. If you have any information please contact Police by dialling 101 quoting OWL Cymru 19100444878 OWL Cymru X115603—Fatal collision in Arthog, Gwynedd A 30-year-old pedal cyclist has sadly died following a road traffic collision in Gwynedd Sunday afternoon (August 11th).Shortly after 1:30pm North Wales Police were informed by the Ambulance Service of a two vehicle collision on the A493 in Arthog whereby the cyclist had collided with a Honda CRV that was towing a caravan. The cyclist was airlifted to hospital in Stoke, however sadly, he died during the early hours of Monday morning. The Roads Policing Unit is appealing for witnesses. Police said: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this incredibly difficult time. “We are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who may have seen the cyclist just prior to the collision to come forward. “Our investigation is underway and anybody who may be able to assist is urged to contact us on 101 or via our live web chat quoting reference number OWL Cymru X115603.” Message from North Wales Police Community Safety There have been four burglaries reported since 8th August in the Deeside/Connahs Quay. Charity Reg: 1101555 OWL CYMRU CRIME WATCH NEWS Ed.122 week ending 16.08.19 Residents please be vigilant Residents are reminded to lock windows and doors before going to bed. A thief attempted to gain entry to a house in Peel Street in Wrexham around 4.45. am one morning and a house in nearby Bright Street around 5.10. am. Nothing was stolen, but pots were damaged in one backyard. OWL Cymru 19100448037— Distraction Burglary in Llay Police are appealing for information following a distraction burglary in the First Avenue area of Llay recently. The incident occurred at around 14.30 hrs on 12th August. The resident answered the door to a male who stated that the pointing on the chimney needed attention. He said he had carried out work on the neighbours property and had noticed it while he was up there. The resident allowed the male to get a ladder set up with two other males. After around 10 minutes one male asked the residents husband to go and look at the work, the other male wanted to see the coving and to check there were no leaks. He then asked the resident to turn the thermostat up and turn the cold water tap on in the kitchen. The resident went downstairs and did as requested. The male then came downstairs and said everything was fine. The resident then paid over two hundred pounds for the ‘work’ they had carried out, and waited for a receipt. When they didn't return with a receipt the resident went outside and found the van had gone. The resident then checked with the neighbour and discovered that they had NOT had any work carried out. The resident then checked upstairs and found that an amount of money had been taken and a cash tin. We would like to take this opportunity to remind residents that purchasing or using the services of cold callers can be risky for numerous reasons. If something goes wrong with the service, or product, they may prove difficult to trace. Some traders will quote a price but then ask for substantially more money when the job has been completed. Some work can be carried out and completed to a poor, or even unsafe standard. Some cold callers are also linked to burglaries, or other criminal activity, as in this incident. Police are asking for residents to be vigilant and wary when dealing with cold callers at the door and to report any suspicious persons or activity to them as soon as possible. They are also asking for residents to pass this information on to older, or more vulnerable neighbours as they may get targeted.
