They are volunteering at social services agencies, mentoring young people, fighting food insecurity, helping others improve their living situation, protecting our environment, and lending their experience and insight to dozens of other great causes. Giving back is the CLA Family saying “thank you” for the opportunity to be a part of the communities where we serve. Nationally, our family includes more than 6,100 professionals in 120 locations, including an office here in the Corridor. Our people serve 7,000+ nonprofits, including social service and religious organizations, associations, membership organizations, foundations, and higher education institutions across the nation. One of the best examples of our community-minded focus is our unique charitable initiative — the CLA Foundation — whose mission is to create career opportunities through education, employment, and entrepreneurship. The foundation is funded exclusively by CLA employees — no outside donations or grant requests are accepted — and all nominations originate with CLA Family members. Since 2015, the CLA Foundation has granted more than $2.5 million to 110+ organizations, including several right here in the Corridor. CLA exists to create opportunities for our clients, our people, and our communities. We do this through industry-focused wealth advisory, outsourcing, audit, tax, and consulting services, and through our deep involvement in the community. Thank you for the opportunity to sponsor this Giving Guide. We look forward to helping you continue creating opportunities as volunteers, as financial supporters, and in all the ways we are connected. Nonprofit organizations create and administer programs that enable the community to seize its most promising opportunities and meet its most pressing challenges. Charitable giving is essential if those nonprofits are to achieve their missions. As a community of donors and nonprofits working together, the Corridor sustains an impressive capacity to enhance lives, solve problems, build collaborations, and ensure our future. Since becoming a public foundation in 1992, we have awarded $125 million in grants. This accomplishment has been made possible by gifts, large and small, from many different donors and has helped strengthen every part of the community. Our hope is that this Giving Guide will inspire you. There are many worthy causes represented here, and your support of them will make life better for all of us. The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation is grateful for your generosity. United Way of East Central Iowa has expertise in identifying where there are gaps of need in our community. We then work with community partners through planning, collaborating, and of course, funding, with the goal of improving the health, education, and financial stability of everyone. When the people in our community thrive, our community thrives, and for more than 100 years, we have been able to serve East Central Iowa thanks to your generosity and commitment. In that time, there have been incredible results; however, there’s still work to do. Our community partners continue to stretch their resources to provide valuable programs and services that address critical needs. Through collaboration and care coordination, they’re able to better support clients on a case-by-case basis to help them be the most successful. By working with area nonprofits, local businesses, government agencies, and you, we are confident we can win this fight. We know this Giving Guide will help you make informed choices for your charitable giving. As a recipient of the Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award for Ethics, we know how important this information can be.
