Comedy show<br />
performer not for the faint-hearted<br />

A KIWI comedian making<br />
waves in America will perform<br />
at the International Comedy<br />
Festival in Lincoln next month.<br />
Jarred Fell is currently<br />
competing on NBC’s Bring<br />
The Funny TV show and will<br />
perform in the semi-finals next<br />
week.<br />
Festival organiser David Parlane<br />
said Fell isn’t for the fainthearted<br />
but is an outstanding<br />
performer through and through.<br />
“He’ll have you scratching<br />
your head about what he just did<br />
on stage and you’ll be in hysterics<br />
at the same time.”<br />
The comedy show will also<br />
feature Dai Henwood as the<br />
headlining act.<br />
Up-and-coming acts will<br />
perform alongside Henwood,<br />
including NZ Comedy Guild<br />
newcomer and award-winning<br />
Irish comic Alan McElroy and<br />
Billy T Award nominee Donna<br />
Brookbanks.<br />
Mr Parlane said it is one of the<br />
best line-ups in international<br />
comedy.<br />
“Heading into our fourth year<br />
I believe the performers this<br />
time around are truly outstanding.<br />
It just gets better and better<br />
each year.”<br />
Preparations for the show are<br />
going wonderfully and everyone<br />
involved is excited for the big<br />
night, Mr Parlane said.<br />
“We’ve got a good team<br />
behind us and everything is on<br />
track to be a great night.”<br />

Wheelie bins<br />
to get tags<br />
THE DISTRICT council will<br />
be installing radio frequency<br />
identification tags on rubbish,<br />
recycling and organics wheelie<br />
bins in the coming weeks.<br />
The tags are about the size<br />
of a thumb and will provide<br />
accurate records of what type<br />
and how many bins each property<br />
has.<br />
Bins will need to be left out<br />
until 6pm on their collection day<br />
when the tagging crew is in the<br />
area and a small yellow sticker<br />
will be applied when a tag has<br />
been fitted.<br />
Residents will be notified by<br />
letterbox flyer, or text if a mobile<br />
number is on file, when the stocktake<br />
team is in their area.<br />
District council solid waste<br />
manager Andrew Boyd said if the<br />
stocktake shows that someone<br />
has a bin that wasn’t originally<br />
allocated to their property they<br />
will be given the option to keep<br />
the bin and pay for it, or for it to<br />
be removed.<br />
The stocktake and tagging of<br />
the district’s 51,000 bins will begin<br />
in September and is expected<br />
to take six to eight months to<br />
complete.<br />
