Suicide Prevention Program<br />
London City Schools is hosting a Signs of Suicide prevention program<br />
for parents and caregivers from 7 to 8 p.m. Sept. 12 in the<br />
community calendar<br />
London High School auditorium. The program is open to the public.<br />
Attendees will learn how to have conversations with their children<br />
about mental health, depression and suicide. For details, contact<br />

Archaeology Society<br />
On Sept. 17, the Darby Creek Chapter of<br />
the Archaeological Society of Ohio will host<br />
a presentation by Greg Shipley, a recognized<br />
amateur archaeologist. The presentation,<br />
entitled “1<strong>8th</strong> Century European<br />
Trade Goods Recoveries from Historic Indian<br />
Sites in Ohio,” will start around 6 p.m.<br />
An abbreviated chapter meeting will follow.<br />
The presentation and meeting will take<br />
place at the Oak Run Township Hall, 7090<br />
Gregg Mill Rd., five miles east of London on<br />
State Route 56. The township hall will open<br />
around 5:30 p.m. for socializing and snacks.<br />
Chronic Condition Self<br />
Management Workshop<br />
The Healthy U workshop, a free chronic<br />
condition self-management program, will<br />
meet weekly from 1 to 3:30 p.m., Oct. 3-Nov.<br />
14, at the <strong>Madison</strong> County Senior Center,<br />
280 W. High St., London.<br />
People with different chronic conditions<br />
attend together. Workshops are led by two<br />
trained facilitators, one or both of whom<br />
have chronic conditions themselves, such as<br />
diabetes, arthritis or heart conditions. The<br />
facilitators will help participants set goals<br />
and make step-by-step plans to improve<br />
their health.<br />
Space is limited. Attendance is required at<br />
all sessions. The deadline to register is Sept.<br />

Developmental Disabilities<br />
Board Meeting<br />
The <strong>Madison</strong> County Board of Developmental<br />
Disabilities will meet at 4 p.m. Sept.<br />
19 at the administrative office, 500 Elm St.,<br />
London. If the meeting needs to be rescheduled,<br />
it will take place on Sept. 26.<br />
Family Fishing Fiesta<br />
The West Jefferson Parks and Recreation<br />
Department is hosting a Family Fishing<br />
Fiesta from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 14 at<br />
the Duke farm house, 5815 State Rte. 29<br />
NE. Free bait and food will be provided.<br />
Prizes will be awarded for the most fish<br />
caught, smallest fish, largest fish and ugliest<br />
fish. This is a catch-and-release event;<br />
no fishing license is needed. Poles will be<br />
provided to those who do not have their<br />

The <strong>Madison</strong> County Historical Society<br />
will host its annual Pioneer Days Festival<br />
from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 28-29 on the Historical<br />
Society grounds, 260 E. High St.,<br />
London.<br />
Visitors can take a journey back in time<br />
with re-enactors, traditional crafters and<br />
demonstrators, try their hand with a tomahawk,<br />
talk with folks from the early 1800s,<br />
and ask a Civil War soldier what it was like<br />
during that time. Reenactors, traditional<br />
crafters, vendors and demonstrators will be<br />
on site. Miller’s Ice Cream and Nick’s Food<br />
Truck will serve up tasty treats.<br />
