Creating a Safe and
Productive Space

This interactive workshop is to help
youth workers establish a safe environment
in their program space that
promotes engagement and productivity
with the children. Participants will take
part in small group discussions and demonstrate
how to assess program quality.
In addition, we will explore how to create
structure and guidelines for clear limits
in the program space, along with sharing
some best practices in the field.

Effective Communication in the
Preschool Classroom

Fun with Math

An eight-hour math workshop divided
into two four-hour sections each. During
these sessions, participants will explore
the importance of mathematics in children's
lives as a lifelong goal. This training
will be presented through a Power
Point presentation, games, activities,
readings and scenarios to teach mathematical
concepts to children from zero
to five years in a fun and effective way.

Guidance and Discipline

In this training we will explore best practice
as it relates to guidance and discipline
of young children and discuss what
discipline means to them. Participants
will discuss the differences between
guidance and discipline, as opposed to
punishment. We will learn about age and
developmentally appropriate behaviors
and expectations for children age birth
to five. Participants will discuss the basics
of positive discipline and become familiar
with methods to encourage appropriate
behaviors.
