38 FALL 2019 — Registration begins September 25, 2019 CONTINUING EDUCATION Yoga and Young Children In this workshop participants will be given a brief introduction to concepts used in yoga. Participants will learn breathing strategies that they can teach to young children. These strategies will help children with self-regulation. Specific yoga poses will be demonstrated, and participants will practice them so they will be able to use them with young children. Throughout this process participants will discover the purpose of the pose and how it relates to the Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards and children’s overall development (Social, Emotional, Cognitive and Physical). This is a very interactive workshop and participants will spend the majority of their time learning appropriate yoga poses. There will be small group work, where participants will practice putting a few yoga poses together that they can use with children immediately. Please dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat or large beach towel. Saturday, December 21, 2019, 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Bubbles Academy, 2184 N. Elston Ave., Chicago, 60614 Move Your Boogie Body In this workshop participants will learn a variety of ways to provide movement activities for children ages two - school age. A variety of methods will be demonstrated: movement using music, creative movement, creative dramatics, parachute play and more. This workshop is interactive and participants will be moving throughout the time frame. All activities are linked to what children are learning as they move. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS/SUID/AAP Safe Sleep) and Shaken Baby Syndrome and Traumatic Brain Injury Continued from page 37 Traumatic Brain Injury; including behaviors that increase the risk of SIDS, safe sleep habits, licensing standards, and resources for further information. Second half of training discusses signs, symptoms, causes, triggers, prevention, and long-term effects of Shaken Baby Syndrome and Traumatic Brain Injury. Successful completion of this course meets DCFS pre-service licensing requirements for home care providers.
