It’s really only at this point in the year, when we put this catalogue together, that we have chance to reflect for a moment on what’s happened in the<br />

year of Bombtrack. So many new friends and memories made, as well as new places visited. Our highlights have to include Clem Shovel crossing<br />

the line of the Transcontinental Race, as well as Fish and the riders of team WIT taking the steel framed Needle into the Red Hook Crit series.<br />

Most of all this moment gives us a chance to reflect on who we are as a bike company, and we’re proud to be one that is making bikes for people<br />

who simply share our passion for riding.

The Script has been in the Bombtrack line<br />

from day one. As a cornerstone of the range<br />

it has always been a very special model for us.<br />

Now in its 4th generation the Script takes on<br />

a more track focused geometry, thanks to its<br />

raised BB height, shorter chain stays, steeper<br />

seat tube and 35mm offset carbon fiber<br />

fork. The use of 7005 alloy, oversized butted<br />

tubing, fully cnc’d dropouts and smoothed<br />

welding mean the Scipt has some credentials<br />

to back up those looks. Kitted out with the<br />

benchmark in track racing, the Sram Omnium<br />

crankset connected to the Drome wheelset via<br />

a high-end KMC halflink chain allowing for<br />

an optimum chain stay length.<br />

The Needle is all about balance. In Crit racing<br />

you need a bike that has enough stiffness<br />

to ensure it reacts to your every input, but<br />

with enough ‘give’ to absorb the rougher surfaces<br />

of a typical Crit circuit. Every detail of<br />

this bike has been considered and optimized<br />

thanks to input from the guys racing it week<br />

in, week out. Features like a shorter seat tube,<br />

to allow the seat post a little more flex, keeping<br />

you firmly planted in the saddle, or the<br />

optimized trail length for greater stability<br />

at high speeds. The components and finishing<br />

kit on the Needle are all race ready, from<br />

the Sram Omnium crankset to the Bombtrack<br />

developed Drome wheels. All this means the<br />

Needle is ready to head straight for the nearest<br />

Crit race and mix things up in more ways<br />

than one.<br />

From the moment we first unveiled the Arise<br />

we were overwhelmed by the response it got.<br />

The original concept for the bike was to be<br />

a simple low maintenance single speed bike<br />

that could be used for commuting through the<br />

week, and then taken on small adventures at<br />

the weekends. As we started to get more and<br />

more questions about how to convert or adapt<br />

the bike we saw it through a whole new light.<br />

The Arise is like a blank canvas, bare, functional<br />

and practical in its natural state but<br />

with a bit of imagination it can be transformed<br />

into a master piece. In its 4th incarnation the<br />

adaptibility of the Arise has been taken even<br />

further. The addition of disc brakes, S-bend<br />

chain stays and a return to the threaded BB<br />

all hold a special purpose, making the Arise<br />

the bike which will allow you to cope with<br />

every track.<br />

Thanks to the wonders of social media, we’ve<br />

loved the ability to see how our Arise bikes<br />

get transformed by their owners to fit their<br />

daily needs, from commuting, doing a school<br />

run or even as a weekend CX toy. After we<br />

recognized the trend for conversion into a<br />

‘daily driver’ for commuting and general running<br />

around time we thought, why not take<br />

out some of the hard work? and our answer<br />

was the Arise Geared. Built around our proven<br />

work horse 4130 crmo frame, but kitted<br />

out with a Nexus 8-speed hub, a flat handlebar<br />

and fenders. Thanks to the front and rear<br />

rack mounts its one easy step to add panniers<br />

making the Arise geared a perfect daily companion.<br />

The Hook 1 is the starting point for anyone<br />

looking to dabble in some CX racing, gravel<br />

rides or generally just looking for a very<br />

versatile bike to explore some new places. At<br />

the heart of the Hook is its crmo steel frame,<br />

a material which is ideally suited to a multi<br />

purpose lifestyle, being strong and durable to<br />

take a few knocks, naturally low resonating<br />

for a more comfortable ride yet stiff where<br />

it counts to efficiently get you where you’re<br />

going quickly. The geometry is designed to<br />

be comfortable, stable and yet very fast and<br />

responsive, and thanks to the TRP Spyre disc<br />

brakes, the Hook immediately has you feeling<br />

in complete control. The SRAM Apex<br />

2x10 shifting is consistent and reliable, and<br />

offers plenty of gears for even the steepest<br />

of climbs. If you decide to load up for a commute<br />

or bikepacking trip, the integrated rack<br />

and fender mounts mean the Hook is quickly<br />

transformed and ready for the journey.<br />

Although we love our steel bikes (as you<br />

might have guessed), there will always be a<br />

certain lure to the aggressive and oversized<br />

forms of an Aluminum frame that will make<br />

us stop and stare. The Hook AL takes our<br />

established Hook bikes and gives it a more<br />

race-oriented flavor. The geometry has been<br />

tweaked and components selected to back up<br />

this purpose, from the Clement MXP tires to<br />

the Apex 1x11 driver train, the Hook AL is<br />

clear in its purpose. The 7005 double butted<br />

alloy frame with oversized down tube and<br />

square section chain stays provide a super<br />

stiff base to ensure all the energy goes into<br />

the rear wheel. Up front the steerer tube is<br />

tapered with a matching carbon bladed fork<br />

to ensure handling is pin point accurate. The<br />

Hook AL is easily kept under control thanks<br />

to the new double butted CX-10 flared drop<br />

bar and TRP Spyre brakes and the Pro saddle<br />

provides a healthy landing platform for those<br />

more lethargic re-mounts.<br />

The Hook 2 is a CX and gravel bike, designed<br />

to keep on going even when the going<br />

gets tough. Built on the foundations of the<br />

original Hook, which had proven itself to be<br />

beyond capable having tackled the Transalp<br />

(endurance) mountain bike race and coming<br />

out totally unfazed. If your sights are set a<br />

little lower, it's no problem, you can rest assured<br />

the capabilities are there, and in the<br />

meantime enjoy the ride. Carrying the famous<br />

white Dove, the Columbus tubing is recognized<br />

around the world for its quality. The<br />

Cromor tubing on the Hook 2 is ideally suited<br />

to the life of a CX and gravel bike, strong and<br />

durable yet light enough to let you perform.<br />

The big update for <strong>2017</strong> sees the Hook 2 gain<br />

front and rear 12mm thru-axles for increased<br />

stiffness, enhancing your control especially<br />

on rougher ground. Added to this the TRP<br />

brakes, Clement MSO gravel tires and the<br />

SRAM Rival 1x11 drivetrain there’s almost<br />

nothing this bike can’t handle.<br />

Introduced last year, the Hook 3 caught our closest<br />

followers a little off-guard. As much as we love our<br />

steel bikes, there does come a time when you just<br />

wish you could be on something a little lighter, and<br />

that’s where the Hook 3 steps in. Constructed from<br />

T700 high-modulus carbon fiber in a selective layering<br />

technique, the frame and fork can have strength and<br />

stiffness increased in areas where it’s needed whilst<br />

maintaining an optimum weight. The Hook 3 is a CX<br />

race machine, and despite its more understated looks,<br />

it packs a heft punch thanks to its race ready build.<br />

The drivetrain is the smooth and reliable SRAM Force<br />

1x11, with its clutch derailleur and wide/narrow chainring<br />

working together to eliminate dropped chains. In<br />

order to power through the sand pits with confidence<br />

the Clement MXP folding tires are wrapped around<br />

the tubeless ready DT-Swiss R23 wheels. The Force<br />

hydraulic brakes are internally routed to help reduce<br />

mud build up, and still provide the best stopping power<br />

in CX, letting you brake later in every corner. For<br />

<strong>2017</strong> the Hook 3 is finished off with our very own Pro<br />

vacuum bonded saddle and Deda Zero 1 finishing kit.<br />

So what does the EXT stand for? Well the truth is we can’t even<br />

remember any more, extreme, extended, extraordinary…take<br />

your pick. The important thing, is what the Hook EXT is. Built<br />

on a 27.5” rim and using a wider tire produces a wheel with the<br />

same outer diameter as a typical 700x28c. This means it’s possible<br />

to run bigger knobby mountain bike tires, with all the grip<br />

they offer, yet retain the geometry of a CX/gravel bike, something<br />

gravel racers have long dreamed of. This is made possible<br />

thanks to a specially designed frame that utilizes a wider bottom<br />

bracket and yoke to maintain a wide yet short rear end. The<br />

Columbus Cromor double-butted tubing has the perfect blend<br />

of being lightweight yet durable, perfect for gravel riding. The<br />

fork was then developed specifically for this bike, with a super<br />

wide crown offering massive tire clearance and a stiffer tapered<br />

steerer tube for more accurate handling.<br />

The SRAM Rival 1 is ideally suited to the Hook EXT, thanks<br />

to its simplified 1x design with clutch derailleur, wide range<br />

cassette and X-Sync chainring providing smooth shifting in any<br />

conditions. The hydraulic brakes bring a superior stopping power<br />

to the EXT, which is reassuring on steeper technical descents.<br />

The versatile build is designed to offer as much all-round use<br />

as possible, so if your journey is mainly on-road, swap out the<br />

wheels for a set of 700c’s, with anything up to 45c tire.<br />

The Beyond is our expedition machine, if it<br />

were a car it would be a Land Rover Defender,<br />

tough and dependable and willing to go<br />

wherever you’re willing to pedal. Introduced<br />

last year, the Beyond has proven itself on<br />

countless journeys, not least when our friend<br />

Marc Maurer rode 5600Km from Istanbul to<br />

Tehran. Designed as a bike packers dream, the<br />

Beyond features mounting options for front<br />

and rear racks as well as up to five bottle cages.<br />

All mounted to a Columbus steel frame<br />

with carefully selected tubings, to do the<br />

most important job of an adventure bike, to<br />

be strong and light. The geometry of the bike<br />

gives a comfortable and stable riding position<br />

even when loaded. The specially flared handlebar,<br />

although a little strange at first, offers<br />

more hand positions, helping the shoulders<br />

and upper body stay relaxed for hours in<br />

the saddle. The SRAM Apex 2x10 drivetrain<br />

provides a smooth simple gear change paired<br />

with the more durable mountain bike spec GX<br />

and X5 derailleurs. So whatever journey you<br />

have in mind remember the Beyond is willing,<br />

if you are.<br />

If your adventure is going to be taking you well off<br />

the beaten track, into places untouched by civilization,<br />

then the Beyond Plus is the bike to make that journey<br />

possible. Built on the 27.5+ wheel platform the Beyond<br />

Plus has oversized 2.8” tires that offer an incredible<br />

amount of grip and a cushion like dampening to soak<br />

up all the lumps and bumps. Proven by our friend Clem<br />

Shovel on the Tuscany Trail, unsupported adventure<br />

race, with a 15th place finish from over 500 starters.<br />

The Beyond Plus is packed with features that make it<br />

capable of these challenging journeys, and not all of<br />

them immediately obvious. Integrated into the rear of<br />

the frame and the forks are rack mounts, on the underside<br />

of the down tube is an extra cage mount, allowing<br />

for a total of 5 water bottles to be mounted on the<br />

bike. The SRAM NX drivetrain with 30t chainring and<br />

an 11-42t cassette give the Beyond Plus just about all<br />

the gearing you could need. Once your destination is<br />

reached, loosing the bags will leave you with a super<br />

fun rigid trail bike ready to put a whole new smile on<br />

Introduced last year, the response and reviews of the<br />

Tempest took us a-back, it seems there are some big<br />

fans of this bike out there! Possibly it was the slim<br />

silhouette that stood out amongst all the carbon and<br />

alloy, we’re not sure, but we’re very happy about the<br />

warm reception. Undoubtedly the clean and uncluttered<br />

lines give the Tempest its distinct look. As anyone<br />

who’s ridden a steel frame will testify, it’s not only<br />

the looks, but nothing rides like it, comfortable yet<br />

stiff and will feel the same decades later. The Tempest<br />

proudly wears the prestigious white Dove of Columbus,<br />

showing that it’s not ‘any old’ steel frame. The carefully<br />

selected tubing gives the Tempest stiffness where<br />

it’s needed, without piling on the weight. Updated for<br />

<strong>2017</strong> the Tempest now features a tapered head tube and<br />

matching carbon blade fork. The Shimano 105 groupset<br />

provides silky smooth shifting and the pro-compact<br />

chainset with 11-28t cassette provide a balance of<br />

climbing ability with flat out speed. The Deda Zero 1<br />

finishing kit help round off this rather stealthy looking,<br />

road machine.<br />

Brand new for <strong>2017</strong>, the Tempest Disc brings<br />

with it the superior braking performance of<br />

disc brakes to our trusted road bike. Although<br />

the pro peloton can’t enjoy the benefits of<br />

disc brakes at this moment, fortunately us<br />

mere mortals can. Using the new ‘flat mount’<br />

version of the highly regarded TRP Spyre calipers<br />

they are neatly tucked away into the<br />

frame and the backside of the fork. To make<br />

the most out of the newly tapered head tube,<br />

the Tempest Disc continues the front-end<br />

stiffness thanks to a 12mm thru-axle hub<br />

from the renowned maker, DT-Swiss. This<br />

is matched to a rear thru-axle, nestled neatly<br />

under the all-new dropouts, which also<br />

feature a replaceable hanger should it come<br />

to any harm. The Selle San Marco saddle is<br />

really a cherry on top for the Tempest Disc,<br />

which is otherwise garnished with more Italian<br />

componentry from Deda, and its Zero 1<br />

finishing kit.<br />

If the idea of chasing Strava KOMs makes your eyes<br />

roll, then you’re probably the kind of rider who prefers<br />

to take in the scenery rather than staring through<br />

mirrored lenses at your stem. At the core of the Audax<br />

is the full crmo frame, with double butted tubes providing<br />

a light and strong endurance road machine. The<br />

steel’s natural dampening characteristics take out a lot<br />

of the road ‘buzz’ letting your arms relax as you eat up<br />

the miles. The dropouts and seat stays are ready for a<br />

rear rack and thanks to the longer chain stays there’s<br />

plenty of heel clearance when panniers are mounted.<br />

Up front, the taller headtube is a little bit easier on<br />

the back muscles, and the longer trail length means<br />

the steering is far less ‘nervous’ than on a race bike.<br />

Thanks to the Shimano 105 compact chainset and 11-<br />

28 cassette, it doesn’t matter where your Audax takes<br />

you there’s plenty of gears to climb those hills. If the<br />

weather turns nasty as it often can, the fenders become<br />

invaluable and indeed a new best friend.<br />

Before you even see the bike, the name alone creates<br />

an image in the mind, rolling through cobbled streets,<br />

past ancient walls to the soundtrack of church bells<br />

and chiming college clocks. Snapping back to reality,<br />

the Oxbridge lives up to the imagined version in<br />

every way. Finished in a deep metallic British racing<br />

green, with polished components and leather saddle,<br />

the Oxbridge is just as you pictured it. Far from being<br />

a piece of velo-pastiche the Oxbridge has a modern<br />

twist, thanks to its slim tig welded rather than lugged<br />

steel frame and painted alloy fenders. Updated for<br />

<strong>2017</strong> the Oxbridge comes in a greater range of sizes<br />

and has had geometry adjusted for a more comfortable<br />

city ride. The simple single speed drivetrain is easy<br />

to maintain, meaning you can just relax and enjoy the<br />

If you like the look of the Oxbridge, but would need a<br />

few more gears to get around your rather hilly neighborhood<br />

then look no further. The Oxbridge Geared<br />

shares the same timeless style as its kin, but with<br />

the added benefit of a silky smooth Shimano Tiagra<br />

10 speed drivetrain. To keep those classic looks the<br />

shifters are mounted on the down tube, which leaves<br />

the handlebars refreshingly clear of those gear cables.<br />

Packing in a little extra practicality the Oxbridge<br />

Geared features front and rear rack mounts so getting<br />

A creature of the urban jungle, the Outlaw<br />

is a new model for <strong>2017</strong>. Prowling the streets<br />

of downtown the Outlaw doesn’t conform to<br />

normality. The wheels are a smaller 27.5” rim<br />

but wrapped in some wide rubber from WTB<br />

giving the bike effectively the same wheel<br />

size as a normal 700x28c but with a whole lot<br />

more grip and comfort. These wider skin wall<br />

tires set off the Outlaw’s rugged appearance,<br />

and the wider fork and flat bar mean the Outlaw<br />

looks like it means business. The raked<br />

top tube and short back end give the Outlaw<br />

a distinctive stripped-out café racer silhouette.<br />

The motorcycle theme continues thanks<br />

to the Gates Carbon belt drive which actually<br />

runs oil free and so makes the Outlaw commuter<br />

friendly. The SRAM rear hub shifts<br />

gear automatically and has a built in coaster<br />

brake, adding to the cleaner stripped-out look<br />

of this urban prowler.<br />
