I would like to see Lianne Dalziel gone but no-one is going to come close.” Andy Tzoumais is backing Ms Dalziel. “I’m thinking I will probably vote for Lianne Dalziel again. I think she has done pretty well for the east,” he said. Craig Ennis, was loading pine cones into his car, when The Star approached. He thought Ms Dalziel had done “a fair job” and he said he was glad to see Mr Minto running again. Latest Canterbury news at starnews.co.nz Russley pupils back at school • By Sophie Cornish CLASSES HAVE resumed for Russley School pupils after an unexpected holiday when a fire tore through four classrooms. About 120 year 7 and 8 pupils lost “virtually everything” when the fire, caused by an electrical fault, broke out eight days ago. Once the fire was extinguished, safety officials found evidence of asbestos and the site remained closed. The school was deemed safe on Monday. Yesterday, the school reopened, housing the majority of the displaced senior pupils in the hall, with some of the younger classes sharing with others. Said principal Greg Lewis: “It’s really good to be back, I’ve seen lots of happy kids, smiling faces and general energy in the school.” “At the moment our plan has been very much around trying to make it to Friday this week. That means we did quite a bit of internal shifting and juggling.” “We also had to relocate our entire school administration because the administration block is not inhabitable. We’ve had to pare back some admin services to get us back up and running, including reconnection of fibre internet, phones sorted, power sorted.” “A part from dealing with the obvious, there’s been a whole bunch of not-so-obvious stuff to deal with,” he said. Thursday September 26 2019 The Star NEWS 9 * Physio struck off after intimate massage A CHRISTCHURCH physiotherapist has been struck off for asking to massage an intimate area of a woman referred to him for vocal problems. Peter William Chum appeared before the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal on allegations of professional misconduct. Although he did not appear at the hearing, Chum denied 11 charges of professional misconduct arising out of an appointment with a woman at her home in 2016. But he breached the conditions, going on to treat at least 14 women, and he was fined $2000 and ordered costs of $25,000. The tribunal upheld the charges against him and cancelled his registration as a physiotherapist. Chum was also ordered to pay $40,000 in costs. UC magazine closer to independence independence.
